East Bengal registered their third win of the tournament with a thumping 4-0 win over city rivals Mohammedan Sporting….

East Bengal U-19 side thrashed Mohammedan Sporting 4-0 in their final group game of the ongoing IFA Shield 2018 at the Barasat Stadium on Wednesday.

Tetepuia scored a brace and Subhanil Ghosh and Lalruatkima Silvana scored a goal each to seal a convincing win for their side.

The Red and Gold colts, who had already qualified for the semis, completed the group stage with an all-win record. They scored a whopping 13 goals in three matches and conceded just once.

East Bengal were in control of the game from the very beginning and dominated proceedings. Their first major chance came in the 7th minute when Tetepuia was one-on-one with Mohammedan goalkeeper Indrajit Sanyal after receiving a cross from Jhantu Prasad. Indrajit valiantly saved Tetepuia’s shot at goal.

Tetepuia scored the opening goal in 16th minute. Subhanil increased the lead just three minutes before halftime. Puia completed his brace in the 64th minute and Lalruatkima hammered the final nail in Mohammedan’s coffin in the 92nd minute.

In another Group A encounter at the East Bengal ground, SAIL Burnpur Academy defeated ATK 1-0 to confirm their place in the semifinal along with East Bengal.

Tomorrow, Mohun Bagan play TATA Football Academy and Churchill Brothers meet Bengal Football Academy.
