The Black Stars defender opened the scoring for Roy Hodgson’s men in the 41st minute before Wilfried Zaha’s 79th-minute strike sealed an opening day win over the Premier League newcomers.
And the 25-year-old is happy to have broken his duck - especially on the day he became a centurion in the English top-flight.
“You could see how much it meant to me with the celebration and what a time to do it, I have waited a long time and enjoyed that one,” Schlupp told club website.
“Patrick and I have a great understanding down that left-hand side, the moment he got the ball there that was a bit of eye contact for me to show him where I wanted the pass and he played it perfectly and I just had to concentrate on hitting the target, it went in so I am happy.”
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who made his first-team debut against Tottenham Hotspur in February, assisted Zaha for the winning goal against the Cottagers.
And Schlupp is pleased with the development of the 20-year-old.
“What a player he is, he seems to be growing in confidence every game and is getting better and better. He did a great bit of play to slide in Wilf [Zaha] with a perfect ball and obviously the move was finished off which was very important for us,” he added.
Schlupp will hope to maintain his fine form when Liverpool visit Selhurst Park next weekend.
