Ghana's youth and sports minister, Isaac Asiamah, says everything is in place for a successful hosting of the upcoming Wafu tournament which is expected to kick off on September 9.

The draw for the competition was held in Accra on Thursday with Ghana being paired with The Gambia.

“We have the capacity to host the Wafu tournament successfully. Ghana is already having the track record as we hosted the Afcon in 2008 perfectly,” Asiamah told

“We have the needed hotels, pitches, road networks and others to make the competition a success.

Asiamah also highlighted the importance of the competition to Ghana, noting that the Black Stars B players will be exposed to the international market.

“The tournament will also give our local players the needed platform to market themselves to the world and also help the businesses in Ghana,” Asiamah added.

The first phase of the competition will be on knockout basis where winners will progress to the semi-finals and losers exit the competition.
