Francois Kamano’s brace helps Bordeaux breeze past Nantes

Francois Kamano got a brace as Bordeaux thumped Nantes 3-0 in Sunday’s French Ligue 1 encounter.

The 22-year-old notched his sixth and seventh goal of the season to help the Girondins return to winning ways after a draw with Reims and loss to København in a Europa League game.

After Yann Karamoh opened the scoring in the fifth minute for Ricardo Gomes’men, Kamano doubled the lead two minutes later.

In the 42nd minute, the former Bastia player completed his brace, converting from the penalty spot to seal a commanding first-half performance for the home team.

The men in Navy-and-Whites nicked their fourth win of the season to climb to the seventh spot in the log with 14 points from nine games.

Kamano featured for the full duration of the contest while Nigeria international Samuel Kalu was introduced for Karamoh in the 67th minute.

For Nantes, Mali international Kalifa Coulibaly was brought on for Emiliano Sala as they searched for a consolation.

Kamano will hope to continue the form in their next league game against Montpellier after the international break on October 21.
