Masuluke became the first African footballer to make it to the top three of the Puskas Award nominees for his bicycle-kick goal scored in 2016

Baroka FC goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke returned home to a hero's welcome despite missing out on a 2017 Fifa Puskas Award.

Masuluke came in second behind Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, who received over 36 per cent of the overall votes cast by the public.

The lanky goalkeeper's outrageous strike against Orlando Pirates in November 2016 made the top three in the world.

Masuluke's goal caught the attention of several high-profile figures, including Jay-Jay Okocha of Nigeria, retired Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo among others.
