Brighton is closing in on a move for South African international Percy Tau from Mamelodi Sundowns.
We already reported that the Brazilians have given the go-ahead for the transfer, but there's a number of obstacles remaining.
Firstly, there's the question of the work permit and many journalists have pointed out that Tau might have to go out immediately on loan... to Belgium. That'd be strange, but surely it's an unlikely scenario for next season?
Here's how South African Twitter followers and Brighton fans are reacting in England.
Percy Tau in 2017/18:
South African Premier Division Top Scorer with 11 goals
League winner with Mamelodi Sundowns
South African Player of the Year

#BHAFC fans, you are getting one hell of a player in Percy Tau. 3-4 million looks like a bit of a steal, too. He's lightning fast, incredible with the ball to feet and so, so much better than anyone else in SA. Please, I implore you, take care of him... Then loan him to Forest x — Chief Clancy (@WiggumCharm) July 5, 2018
1. Percy Tau expected to conclude move to Brighton and Hove Albion in the English Premier League.
2. Will be very difficult for Tau to secure a UK work permit and play in the EPL.
3. Could likely be loaned out to a club in another country for a while.

Percy Tau leaving Sundowns for Brighton feels like a downgrade to me. — Mandisi (@Mandac5) July 9, 2018
-Honestly Borrusia Dortmund or Monaco would have been an ideal teams for Percy Tau. Rather than JOIN Brighton and be a bench warmer! — _____de GRINLO (@LyttonMzimela) July 9, 2018
Delighted that Percy Tau is going to play in the Premier League for Brighton, but I must admit that R50m/£2.7m is daylight robbery for South Africa's best striking talent since Lesley Manyathela. The English used his desire to play overseas as leverage to make a derisory offer. — Siphamandla (@Sowellnomics) July 9, 2018
Brighton owners also own a Belgian second division club so could he be sent there? He’d have to play there for 2/3 years to get his European papers and then maybe qualify for England. Seems a long waiting game for a player who’s 24 https://t.co/VDR8d6sqPW — Julia Stuart (@JuliaStuart_SA) July 10, 2018

Percy Tau has sealed a R50 million move...to play in the Belgium second division. Does that sound right? — David Minchella (@David_Minchella) July 10, 2018
