Matteo Guendouzi will be one of the players to look out for as Arsenal battle Chelsea for the title in the summit clash at Baku...

Arsenal have battled it hard to reach the final of the 2018-19 UEFA Europa League final. Now a familiar foe in Chelsea stand in theor way as they seek to land an elusive European trophy.

With Aaron Ramsey injured, it opens up space for Matteo Guendouzi to play a key role for the Gunners in midfield. The 20-year-old has been a revelation ever since he joined Arsenal last summer.

The Frenchman has managed 33 starts and a further 14 appearances from the bench across all competitions this season. The only goal he has scored in an Arsenal shirt has come in the Europa League.

In the ten games that he has played in the Europa League, Guendouzi was a vital cog in the middle of the park, especially during the group stages. However, he was not summoned from the bench in the second leg of the Round of 16 and the quarterfinal ties against Napoli.

As compared to Lucas Torreira, his direct competition in the squad, Guendouzi has had a better presence in midfield in the Europa League. He has had a 90.5 per cent pass succession rate, one of the best amongst his contemporaries in the competition.

His wiry stature and knack of making sprints from midfield make him a key asset even if Emery brings him in the second half. Guendouzi is also adept in both guarding and creating from set-pieces, making him an all-round number six.

Guendouzi's best performance in the Europa League came in the away game to Qarabag in the group stage when he scored a fine goal to make it 3-0. He could have added another in injury time but his effort flew over the bar.

The Frenchman will certainly play a huge role in Baku, be it right from the start or from the bench.
