East Bengal: Khalid Jamil abuses the media after facing fans' agitation

A couple of days after losing to arch-rivals Mohun Bagan in an important I-League match, things took an ugly turn at the East Bengal tent on Tuesday morning, as Khalid Jamil lost his cool and ended up abusing journalists for clicking his photo.

In typical Kolkata Maidan style, a group of supporters had gathered at the club's morning practice session, venting their frustration about the derby debacle and the alleged mismanagement that has resulted in the club not winning the national league for 14 years.

While Football Secretary Raja Guha addressed the fans, they raised slogans against the club hierarchy, Khalid Jamil, Alvito D'Cunha and Luis Barreto.

Meanwhile, Khalid went on to abuse a photo-journalist which added fuel to the fire, forcing the club officials to interfere, which forced Khalid to apologize for his misbehaviour.

The coach, though, had a half-hour long closed-door discussion with the fans, trying to pacify them by stressing that the club still has a good chance to win the league title.

Khalid's wings have been trimmed on Monday after the club reinstated former India international Manoranjan Bhattacharya as a technical advisor.

The Red and Golds have bagged only six points in their last five matches and are now behind both Minerva Punjab and NEROCA FC in the title race.
