Dubai Sports Council announces list of speakers at the Sports Conference

Simeone, Lippi, Totti, Puyol and Matar are at the top of conference’s 12th edition for speakers alongside the President of FIFA Gianni Infantino.

In the presence of Barcelona icon Eric Abidal, the Dubai Sports Council announced the list of speakers at the sports conference they are organising this year – the 12th edition of the conference will take place on the 27th and 28th of December – under the tag of “investing in modern day football”, sponsored by HRH Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the President of the Dubai Sports Council.

The announcement was made on the 24th of December, 2017, at the Madinat Jumeirah where Saeed Hareb (secretary of DSC), Mustafa Al Agha (head of sports section in MBC) and Eric Abidal spoke to the press.

Hareb announced that Diego Simeone, Hector Cuper, Fabio Capello and Marcelo Lippi amongst others will be speaking at the conference. The players that will be speaking are Francesco Totti now team manager of Roma, UAE football icon Ismail Matar and former Barcelona and Spain captain Carles Puyol. Pierluigi Collina and Felix Brych will be present to represent the referees.

There will also be participation from many administrative characters in football: Javier Tebas (head of the LFP), Eric Wynalda, Marco Brunelli (CEO of Calcio A), Ferran Soriano (CEO of Manchester City), Vadim Vasylev (vice president of Monaco) and Umberto Gandini (CEO of Roma).

The program

The 27th of December will see the workshop open at 9 AM to look at the best practices in Europe’s best leagues. Javier Tebas, Eric Wynalda and Marco Brunelli will be speaking at this workshop.

The second workshop will start at 11:15 AM with the title “the role of academies in developing the origins of clubs”, with the speakers being Diego Simeone, Hector Cuper and Fabio Capello.

The third and final workshop of the day, “examples of successful clubs” will start at 1:15 PM, with all of Ferran Sorriano, Vadim Vasylev and Umberto Gandini speaking about their management of successful clubs throughout their careers from administrative roles.

On the second day, at 9AM, there will be a workshop that speaks about investing in technology in modern day football. Italians Marcelo Lippi and Pierluigi Collina will speak, alongside the German referee Felix Brych.

The players workshop kicks off at 10:45 AM, and they will be speaking about how plans to invest in players take place in modern day football. Carles Puyol, Francesco Totti and Ismail Matar will be speaking about this topic.

The final workshop on the second day will take place at 12:00 PM, with the title “the vision of leaders”, focusing on the future of investment in football. President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, will be speaking about this topic to conclude the workshops.

World Cup Souvenirs

Many souvenirs from the previous World Cups will be shown at the conference, with the Gol Remy World Cup and the FIFA World Cup both being shown to the attendants, alongside the ball that was played in the 1930 FIFA World Cup Final. Shirts of players who have won the World Cups, including the shirts of Gianluigi Buffon and Thierry Henry, will be on show. There was also an announcement that 30 of the shirts will be sold, with a valuable gift given to the sponsors.

Globe Soccer Prizes

It was announced that there will be 13 trophies at the Globe Soccer Awards on the 28th of December. The awards and nominees:

The best player: Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Paulo Dybala, Gianluigi Buffon, Sergio Ramos:

The best club: Real Madrid, Manchester United and Monaco.

The best manager: Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri.

The best Arabian national team: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.

The best Arabian national team manager: Nabil Maaloul, Hector Cuper, Herve Renard and Bert Van Marwijk.
