The Danish coach has tendered his resignation after eight rounds of games in the local topflight

Wafa coach Klavs Rasmussen has thrown in the towel just after eight matches into the 2017-18 Ghana Premier League season.

The Sogakope-based club are facing a poor start to the campaign, failing to pick a win in their last five games and currently sitting one place above the relegation zone.

''We wish to inform you that our coach Klavs Rasmussen has resigned from WAFA SC to attend to some pressing family issues.

''We thank him for the work he has done for WAFA and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.''

Rasmussen guided the team to a second-place finish last season but had been struggling to repeat that feat this term.

"I believe I did my best and had to leave at a point. It was a personal decision to quit the club after several good moments shared together," he said.

"I wish them the best of luck and thanks them also for the opportunity they gave me," he added.

Rasmussen is the second coach to leave the club within four months after his former assistant Akakpo Patron left to join Asante Kotoko.

Goal understands that assistant Moro Ibrahim has been appointed as the interim coach.
