Former Ghana international Augustine Arhinful believes the football association made the right decision to snub 2017 Afcon-winning coach Hugo Broos and appoint Kwesi Appiah as the Black Stars new coach.
The Belgian, who won the continental diadem with Cameroon in February, was among three candidates interviewed for the job, which was eventually handed to Kwesi Appiah on Tuesday.
Although Broos denied holding talks with Ghanaian officials for the said job.
"Winning the Afcon trophy with Cameroon shouldn't be a yardstick that Hugo Broos should be given the nod to handle the senior national team of Ghana," Arhinful told Joy FM.
"He clinched the last edition for Cameroon but does it mean that he will win the Africa Cup of Nations trophy for Ghana?
"I want to say that Kwesi [Appiah] has gained much experience with our national team and he knows the African terrain already.
"All he needs now is [for us] to support him massively on his return to the Black Stars of Ghana."
Appiah makes a return to the Black Stars three years after his dismissal for Ghana's poor showing at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.
Under the 56-year-old, the Black Stars crashed out of the global showpiece at the group stage for the first time.
He led Ghana to a fourth finish at the 2013 Afcon in South Africa, a year after taking up the job.
