USM Alger needed a late goal by Mohamed Amia to avoid a shock home defeat to Rwandan side Rayon Sports in a Caf Confederation Cup match on Sunday.

The East African side took a lead courtesy of Ismailla Diarra in the 28th minute, and all seemed well until the 86th minute when the home team replied.

Following that outcome, Gor Mahia went top of Group D after they had earlier beaten Yanga 3-2. K’Ogalo scored through George Odhiambo, Jacques Tuyisenge and Haron Shakava, with the home team replying through Beus Kaseke and Raphael Loth.

The Kenyan champions have collected eight points from four matches, same as second placed USM Alger that has an inferior goal difference.

Rayon Sports is third with three points with Yanga, who have already been eliminated, bottom of the Group with a single point.
