Caf Champions League Group B Preview: Former winners Mazembe and Setif square off

The 2018 Caf Champions League group phase kicks off this weekend with several continental giants in action on Friday and Saturday

Arguably the toughest and trickiest group of the four mini-leagues, this group comprises of three North African teams. Algerian duo ES Setif and their cross-town rivals MC Alger are pitted in the group alongside continental heavyweights TP Mazembe and Moroccan surprise package Difaa El Jadidi.

In the group's opening encounter, Alger and Difaa el Jadidi will meet in Algiers on Friday evening at the  Stade du 5 Juillet 1962.

And on Saturday, five-time winners Mazembe and two-time winners Setif will square off in what will be one of the opening round's highlight fixtures for this weekend.

Setif head to Lubumbashi at the back of two consecutive defeats in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 and are expected to be without three of their key players, goalkeeper Kheiri Barki, defender Abdelkader Badra and midfielder Elias Sidhoum.

Hosts Les Corbeaux, who head to this tie unbeaten in ten consecutive domestic fixtures, received a boost yesterday with news that diminutive midfielder Mika Miche has passed his fitness test after recovering from an ankle injury.

Kick-Off for this clash is 15:00 at  Stade du TP Mazembe.
