Bidvest Wits deny interest in Egyptian striker Gamal

Bidvest Wits CEO Jose Ferreira says they are not interested in signing Al Ahly striker Amr Gamal as purported by certain publications.

“There is no story with Gamal. We are not interested in signing him, it’s all just newspapers stuff,” Ferreira told Goal .

Gamal scored the winning goal in the two-legged Caf Champions League clash with Students earlier this year, and he was said to have impressed Wits coach Gavin Hunt.

Meanwhile, one player they are looking at bringing in is Anthony Gordinho, the younger brother of Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo, who is currently on the books of SuperSport United.

He spent the past season on-loan at the University of Pretoria under the tutelage of former Bafana Bafana striker Shaun Bartlett.

“Gordinho is training with us, yes. He is on trial at the moment with the potential of signing him,” Ferreira said.

South African junior striker Liam Jordan, who spent the past season on-loan with Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, is the subject of an extension on his loan, though, nothing is confirmed at the moment.

“There is a possibility that Jordan will return on-loan to Sporting, but nothing is confirmed yet. We are still in negotiations with them over a move,” Ferreira concluded.
