In a move to vitalize the youth strata of Singapore and one that will certainly gladden the football aficionados in the Southeast Asian Country, Mundipharma - a pharmaceutical giant headquartered in Singapore - has unveiled it's Youth Football Development Programme.
Sponsored by their BETADINE brand of medicines - the official healthcare product partner of English Premier League (EPL) side Manchester City - a week long coaching program will impart football knowledge not just to kids, but also for budding coaches and this has been met with emphatic approval by the Football Association of Singapore (FAS).
In an effort to empower the fledglings in their quest for a career on the football pitch, 32 players between 10 and 15 years of age - both boys and girls - will be educated by City Football Schools’ coaches on important topics such as nutrition, functional fitness as well as technical skill development. The workshop is stipulated to be held between the 19th and 24th of June.
The good news extends top coaches too. Youth coaches from the Singapore League (S. League) will also be allowed to sharpen their managerial finness with a ‘Coach the Coaches’ programme. The programme has also extended it's welcome to managerial greenhorns in the National Football League (NFL) as well as coaches of Singapore’s Cerebral Palsy football team.
Mr Raman Singh, CEO, Mundipharma stated, “Sports reaches and inspires people around the world. As the Official Healthcare Product Partner of Manchester City, we’ve been harnessing this power to raise awareness about key health issues and we now want to use it to help Singapore football.”
Football Association of Singapore Technical Director Michel Sablon said, “The FAS always strives to expose our players, coaches and officials to top-level football, including overseas training camps, exchange programmes and invitational competitions with top-class teams. We are pleased that academy coaches from Manchester City Football Club will hold this week-long football event in Singapore. It is always good to have corporations doing more for Singapore football and I hope more organisations follow in Mundipharma's footsteps.”
Damian Willoughby, Senior VP of Partnerships for City Football Group, explained, “Manchester City is delighted to be partnering with Mundipharma to deliver our City Football Schools clinics in Singapore. Our involvement in this special football programme reflects the Club’s broader commitment to bringing football to everyone, whatever level they play at. Importantly, it also reflects our commitment to Singapore. It has been one of our homes since we opened our office here in 2015 and our presence in Singapore continues to thrive and grow.”
