Antwi's goalscoring record in Egypt draws praise from Makasa coach Talaat

Misr El Makasa head coach Talaat Yousef has heaped praise on Ghanaian striker John Antwi after his record-breaking hat-trick against ENPPI in the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday.

The 26-year-old is now the foreigner with most goals in the top-flight after totalling 63 to surpass the previous record held by countryman Papa Arko, who had 61 goals.

“Antwi is a deadly striker, very talented and he knows how to score goals. You all saw what he did in the game against Enppi on Sunday,” Talaat said after training on Monday.

“It was a crunchy encounter but he won the game for us, it was a great show, the whole team also played well I am very convinced that Antwi will go far after this record he has made here in Egypt,” he added.

Antwi, who began his career with Ghana Premier League side Sekondi Eleven Wise, scored 28 of his tally with Ismaily, three for Al Ahly and 32 goals with Makasa.

He is yet to make his international bow for Ghana but has been handed two call ups in the past.
