Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti has confessed that he made an obscene hand gesture to a Hertha Berlin fan after Saturday's match.

The Bundesliga meeting ended in controversial fashion when Robert Lewandowski equalised in the 96th minute, past the allotted stoppage time given.

Ancelotti: Bayern deserved equaliser

Hertha players surrounded the referee after the final whistle that marked a 1-1 draw, while fans were also left furious by the conclusion to events.

And in the melee that followed, Ancelotti admitted he showed his middle finger to a supporter while being barracked from the stands.

"Yes, I made that gesture, because I was spat on," the Italian told Bild when asked about the incident.

The draw maintains Bayern's standing at the top of the table, although RB Leipzig could cut Die Roten's lead to five points with victory over Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday.
