The Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick has admitted that the need to avoid any form of distraction ahead of Russia 2018 World Cup warranted the agreement of a two-year contract with Gernot Rohr.
The German tactician led the Super Eagles to their sixth appearance in the global showpiece on an impressive note, doing so undefeated in the campaign.
The 64-year-old has lost just once, drew four and won seven games including an emphatic 4-2 victory over Argentina since he took over in August 2016.
And the NFF - who have also reached an agreement with the Super Eagles setup on the issue of payment - said that the need to assure the gaffer of his job informed the deal.
“We have decided to confront head-on any possible area of conflict or controversy, and fully resolve each and every possible friction point well ahead of the competition,” Pinnick told NFF website.
“After signing the agreement on payment to the team from expected FIFA income, the next stage was to take care of the Technical Adviser.
“He has done very well and does not need to go into the World Cup uncertain of his future,” he concluded.
