Gabriel Andika has been warming the bench at AFC Leopards but he belives his time will come

After his move to AFC Leopards, many fans expected Gabriel Andika to be the team's first choice goalkeeper. However, nine matches into the season, the ex-Western Stima man is still playing second fiddle to Ian Otieno.

Despite his undoubted experience and talent, coach Stewart Hall has stuck to the former Posta Rangers man; a move that Andika says is more of a motivation to him, "Yes, I want to play, that is why I am here. No player will want to be sitting on the bench.

"Being second choice goalkeeper does not mean you are doing bad, it just means that person who has been selected ahead of you is doing something right. It means I have to up my game and work harder, chances for me to play will come, but before that I have to fight for that position," he told Goal.

Eighth placed AFC Leopards have a huge task of downing Sony Sugar after a heavy 3-0 defeat in the hands of bitter rivals Gor Mahia last weekend.
