S.League announces league fixtures

The opening league match will feature champions Brunei DPMM and Singapore Cup winners Albirex Niigata (S), which will also be the traditional Charity Shield curtain raiser.

The S.League have released the fixtures one month before the 2016 season kicks off.

This season promises to be one of the most competitive ever witnessed, with clubs all strengthening following the return of the LionsXII players to the local domestic league.

Defending champions Brunei DPMM will face Singapore Cup winners Albirex Niigata (S) in the traditional Charity Shield curtain raiser, which will also double as the opening league match on Saturday, 13 February at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

Last year’s runners-up Tampines Rovers will host a resurgent Geylang International at the Jurong West Stadium, while Home United takes on arch-rivals Warriors FC as they return to Bishan Stadium after spending one year away.

With the league having an odd numbers of team, a team will receive a bye each week, with Hougang United the first.

The Cheetahs will instead play Home United at the Jalan Besar Stadium on 18 February for their first game of the season.
