Salgaocar release Angel Guirado

The 28-year old Philippines striker was away for the AFC Suzuki with the national team for a prolonged period which prompted the club to look for a replacement
Salgaocar FC have ended their association with striker Angel Guirado after the Philippines striker's involvement with the national team in the Suzuki Cup restricted his appearances for the Goan club in the I-League. Philippines had reached the semi-finals of the Suzuki Cup where they lost to Singapore. The club have lined up Brazilian Josimar Martins as his replacement.

"Brazilian striker Josimar Martins has already joined the team in the meantime and Salgaocar decided it was best to repose their faith in Josimar. Nobody really was happy with Angel's performance. He had failed to deliver and he was being away from the team (on national duty) for far too long," said a senior club official to The Times of India.

"Josimar is doing well with the team and provides the coach with a good alternative upfront. He has played in India before and knows the kind of football that is needed. He should do well with us," the official added.

Salgaocar are at the bottom of the I-League table with 7 points from 11 games played.
