SAFF Cup 2015 to be held in India

The SAFF executive member meeting took the decision after they met on the eve of the highly anticipated SAFF Championship final

It has been decided that India will host the 2015 edition of SAFF Championship. The (South Asian Football Federation) SAFF Executive members came to a conclusion for the venue of ninth edition SAFF championship after their meeting, on Tuesday.

The tournament will be held in India while the host city is not yet decided. India will be hosting the championship for the third time which is the maximum number for an individual country. Similarly, another major decision taken was, the women's championship which will be hosted in Pakistan in October/November next year.

SAFF also announced that the SAFF Club Championship will probably kick-off August next year and will last for 12 days. The venue of the tournament has not yet been decided, while the frequency of the event will depend on the sponsorship offers. It might be held on an annual basis or once in two years, depending on the sponsorship deals SAFF gets.

Meanwhile, SAFF has also announced their plan to introduce an U-19 level tournament which is most likely to get underway from the year 2015.
