Philippines international Stephan Schrock made his debut for Eintracht Frankfurt in Saturday night's Bundesliga match against Bayern Munich.
After being left on the bench in Frankfurt’s demoralising 6-1 away defeat to Hertha BSC, Schrock was inserted into the starting line-up by manager Armin Veh in an attempt to shake up their defense against the reigning champions.
However, Armin’s decision to let Schrock start looked to have been a poor one as the right-back had a tough debut. Left to mark wing-wizard Franck Ribery, the French international's trickery and pace caused problems all night for Schrock.
Despite finding it difficult to defend against Ribery, Schrock very nearly helped Eintracht Frankfurt salvage a point in the 79th minute.
Schrock managed to provide a great cross to Srdjan Lakic, who squared the ball to Celozzi on the edge of the box. However, the latter missed a great chance to equalise as he scuffed his shot wide.
The 26-year-old Schrock remained on the pitch until full-time but was unable to contribute much asFrankfurt suffered a second consecutive defeat in the league.
David Alaba, another player of Filipino lineage, started for Bayern and played really well in the match.
The Austrian national has opted to play for Austria instead even though he could have been eligible to represent Philippines at international level due to his Filipino mother.
