Brian Reid to lead Philippines Under-23s against Singapore

The coach of Philippines league champions Global FC will helm the side as they travel to the sunny island for a friendly against the hosts

The Philippines Football Federation (PFF) have appointed Global FC coach Brian Reid as the nation's Under-23 head coach, and his immediate task will be to lead them out for a friendly match against their Singapore counterparts on June 13.

The appointment was confirmed by the PFF on Monday and Reid will be assisted by Ilongo United coach Dan Padernal, with Noel Marcaida as the goalkeeping coach.

The squad was previously helmed by Azkals head coach Michael Weiss in the last SEA Games in 2011, but the German had rejected the offer from the PFF to continue in his dual role earlier in the year.

Loyola Meralco Sparks midfielder Mark Hartmann will lead the squad alongside his club-mates Amani Manuel Aguinaldo, Matthew Uy and Angelo Marasigan.

Reid has also called up the Green Archers United trio of goalkeeper Patrick Deyto and defenders Ronnie Aguisanda and Reymark Fernandez, as well as Global duo Joshua Beloya and Jeremy Theuer.

The match between the Singapore U23s and Philippines U23s will be held at the Hougang Stadium on June 13 at 7.45p.m.

Tickets for the match are priced at $6 for adults, with $2 concession tickets for students below the age of 16 and senior citizens above 60 available as well.

Ticket will go on sale on June 12 and fans may purchase their tickets from the TicketBooth website, the 12 TicketBooth outlets or AXS machines island-wide until 4p.m on matchday.

The ticket sales will resume on matchday from 5pm onwards at Hougang Stadium, subject to availability.
