Five premier league clubs have topped Google's end-of-the-year Trends charts for 2013. Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are the top 10 most searched sports teams by the search engine's Singapore users.
Football remained the predominantly popular sport as the top six positions were taken up by football clubs, while NBA's Houston Rockets, LA Lakers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks took the lower four spots.
Despite not having won a trophy in almost 10 years, the North London club remain popular with loyal Arsenal fans in Singapore, as they emerged as the most searched sports team for the year.
Round off the top three were, 2012/2013 English Premier League champions Manchester United in second, and Chelsea in third.
The only local entry on the list was Malaysian Super League side (MSL) LionsXII, who came in at fourth, ahead of Spurs. The V.Sundramoorthy-led side had a successful year winning the MSL title in only their second year of participation and were also in the news for the transfer of three of the team's key players. Hariss Harun, Shahril Ishak and Baihakki Khaizan all opted to play for Johor for next year, while Sundram departed for Negeri Sembilan.
