Mike Wong appointed Technical Director of Brunei FA

Wong is a Singapore cup winner with Geylang and has had experience with the national women's and youth teams
Former Geylang and Singapore U22 coach, Mike Wong, has been appointed as the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam's (NFABD) new Technical Director.

Wong was head coach of Geylang United (now Geylang International) from 2009 until early 2012 when he was replaced by current incumbent V.Kanan. During his tenure at the Eagles, he won the Singapore Cup, the club's first trophy in eight years.

He also oversaw the National U22 side at the AFC U22 qualifiers last year when the Young Lions crashed out of the qualifiers after defeats to Japan and Indonesia.

In his new role as Technical Director, Wong will be tasked with planning and implementing football programmes in Brunei.

In a media statement, the NFABD said: "The NFABD is delighted to have Mike Wong Mun Heng onboard and genuinely believe that with his experience and expertise, he could help the NFABD make a difference and achieve its vision."

Wong will assume his role on October 14, and will sign a two-year contract.

Earlier last week, the NFABD also announced that former Singapore international Stephen Ng has been signed to be the new U16 coach.
