Commentary

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
PSG are now three points behind the leaders Lille, with just two games remaining, so they need their opponents to slip up in the title race. They face Reims next time out in Ligue 1, however, they will turn their attentions to the Coupe de France in midweek, as they face Montpellier in the final. Meanwhile Rennes remain seventh and they travel to Monaco next weekend.
PSG miss out on the chance to close the gap on Lille to just one point, after a 1-1 draw with Rennes. They led 1-0 at the break, after a stoppage time penalty from Neymar, but they struggled in the second half and Rennes had numerous chances in front of goal, forcing Navas to make some excellent saves to deny them. The hosts eventually got their reward after 70 minutes, when Guirassy powered a header towards goal from a corner and it cannoned off the post and went in. It got worse for PSG late on, as Kimpembe was shown a straight red on 87 minutes and they played the remainder of the game with 10-men.

F. Tait
Yellow Card
Rennes
90' + 2' Tait is booked after a blatant trip on Neymar as PSG looked to counter.
90' + 1' SAVE! Another stop by Navas to deny Rennes a late winner! They are constantly trying to bend the ball into the bottom right corner of the net and Tait went very close then, getting plenty of pace on the shot and Navas had to dive across and make the save.
90' There will be a minimum of four minutes added time played at the end of the second half.
R. Del Castillo
Yellow Card
Rennes
89' There was a coming together between Del Castillo and Kimpembe on the sidelines following the challenge and the Rennes substitute is booked.
P. Kimpembe
Red Card
PSG
87' RED CARD! Kimpembe is shown a straight red for an awful challenge on Doku down the left wing. The centre-back sprints across and throws himself into the tackle, catching Doku high and late, getting nowhere near the ball and the PSG players can’t have any complaints with that. They will play the final few minutes with 10-men.
85' Decent effort! Guirassy tries to curl the ball into the bottom right corner of the net from the edge of the box, but it doesn't quite have enough pace on it to beat Navas, who gets across and makes the save.
84' There's only six minutes, plus any stoppage time to be added on left to play here, can either side nick a winner late on?
82' Prior to this game Rennes had won 54 points after 35 Ligue 1 games this season, their highest tally at this stage since 2011/12 (57 points, finishing 6th at the end of the season).

A. Diouf
M. Terrier
Rennes
79' Another change by the hosts sees Terrier replaced by Diouf.
78' Stoppage in play here as Tait is down receiving some medical treatment after a foul by Rafinha, but he should be fine to continue shortly.
76' Still no signs of a PSG comeback, they are yet to really test Gomis in the second half, with the keeper not really involved much, which just shows how well the hosts have played.
74' The hosts have deserved their goal, it has been coming in the second half, with PSG unable to cope at the back at times. Now they need to push on, but they look short of ideas in the final third.
72' Let's see if the PSG changes can make any difference to the game now, they have less than 20 minutes remaining to try and get another goal and clinch all three points.
B. Bourigeaud
Assist
Rennes
70' Bourigeaud put plenty of pace on the set piece delivery and Guirassy did the rest with an excellent header, which Navas was nowhere near.
S. Guirassy
Goal
Rennes
70' GOOOAAALLL! Rennes have the equaliser, it’s 1-1! Guirassy with a superb header to get the hosts back into the game. Bourigeaud whips a brilliant corner into the penalty area and the striker rises above his marker and powers a header towards goal, which strikes the left post, before cannoning back across goal and over the line. Thumping header!
I. Gueye
Ander Herrera
PSG
70' The other substitution sees Herrera head off the pitch and Gueye is his replacement.
Rafinha
Á. Di María
PSG
69' PSG are making a double change now, with Di Maria the first to come off and he has been replaced by Rafinha.
67' SAVE! Tait does really well to get away from a couple of PSG defenders and cut inside from the left, onto his right foot and curl an effort towards the bottom right corner of the goal. It just seems to be sneaking in, but Navas gets across and makes a brilliant save, pushing it around the post.
65' PSG have won 13 of their last 17 games in the top-flight (L4), including each of their last four, their longest such run since September-November 2020 (8).
63' PSG have managed to settle the game down now, they are seeing more of the ball and Rennes aren't attacking as regularly at the moment.
C. Grenier
C. Ugochukwu
Rennes
61' Rennes with their first substitution of the game now, with Ugochukwu the man coming off and he has been replaced by Grenier.
61' Not too far away! Kean tries to curl the ball into the top right corner of the net from the edge of the box, but he gets slightly too much on it and it flies just over the bar.
59' Kean has hardly touched the ball in the second half for PSG, it might be time for Pochettino to look to his bench and perhaps bring Icardi on to try and push for a second goal.
Ander Herrera
Yellow Card
PSG
57' Herrera is booked after his late challenge on Ugochukwu, he is the first PSG player to be shown a yellow card today.
56' Decent effort! Draxler does brilliantly to control the ball, keep it in the air and then turn and volley an effort towards goal, however, his shot flies wide of the Rennes net.
A. Diallo
L. Kurzawa
PSG
55' PSG have been forced into making an early change in the second half, with Kurzawa limping off with an injury and he has been replaced by Diallo.
54' PSG haven't really got going in this second half so far, they are struggling to keep the ball and Rennes are on top, keeping the visitors penned back inside their own half.
52' Blocked! Rennes are throwing everything at PSG at the moment, they are camped inside their half. They work it well in the final third, playing it around the box, before it falls to Maouassa to the left and he drills an effort towards the near post, but Dagba gets across and makes a good block to send it behind for a corner.
51' PSG have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven Ligue 1 games (10 goals conceded overall), their longest run since April-May 2019 (also 7). They haven’t registered a longer such run in the top-flight since February-April 2012 (11).
49' It will be interesting to see how Rennes react to being a goal down, after it looked like they would go in level at the break. A second PSG goal should settle any nerves that they have.
47' Good chance! Rennes break forward quickly and Doku skips past Kurzawa down the right and then fires a low shot towards goal from a tight angle. However, his effort is too close to Navas, who makes a comfortable save.
46' The second half is under way!
A win is vital for PSG today as they try to close the gap on Lille at the top of Ligue 1, so they will want to push on in the second half and get another goal to make it more comfortable, as Rennes have grown into the game and look dangerous themselves on the counter.
PSG lead 1-0 at the break, thanks to Neymar’s penalty in stoppage time, after a lengthy delay as the officials reviewed the challenge by Aguerd on Kurzawa in the box. The Rennes man caught the left-back late as he fired a shot towards goal and Neymar took advantage from the spot. They could be further ahead, but Herrera spurned two superb opportunities. Rennes had a goal ruled out for offside, after Guirassy’s strike was defected into the back of the net by Doku, but the flag was correctly raised. Kean then thought he had sent PSG ahead just before the break, but the ball had already crossed the goal-line, so it didn’t count.
45' + 7' HALF-TIME: RENNES 0-1 PSG
Neymar
Penalty Goal
PSG
45' + 6' GOOOAAALLL! Neymar converts from the penalty spot and sends PSG 1-0 up in stoppage time! There was a long delay between the foul by Aguerd on Kurzawa as the officials looked at the video replays, but it was eventually given and Neymar stepped up to send the ball into the bottom left corner of the net. Gomis dived the right way, but there was too much pace on the shot for him to get down and stop it.
N. Aguerd
Yellow Card
Rennes
45' + 5' Aguerd is also booked for his challenge on Kurzawa.
45' + 4' PSG PENALTY! The referee has reviewed the footage and PSG have been awarded a penalty, following Aguerd's late challenge on Kurzawa. There is a big hole in the sock of the left-back, showing how high he was caught on his leg. The Rennes players are furious with the decision.
45' + 3' The officials are checking the challenge on Kurzawa by Aguerd, as the centre-back does seem to catch the left-back late as the PSG man fired an effort towards goal. It was high on his leg as well, which has caused the injury.
45' + 2' Stoppage in play here as Kurzawa goes down with an injury after a challenge by Aguerd and the PSG left-back seems to be in a bit of pain, but he should be fine to continue.
45' There will be a minimum of one minute added time played at the end of the first half.
43' He should be doing better! Neymar manages to find some time and space on the edge of the penalty area, but he drills his effort high over the crossbar.
41' There isn’t long left to play before the end of the first half, can either side break the deadlock before the half-time whistle?
39' GOAL RULED OUT! PSG now have the ball in the back of the net, but it is once again ruled out! Dagba races down the right wing and Di Maria plays it through to him, with the right-back chipping it into the six-yard box for Kean to head home from close range. However, the ball had just gone out of play, so Rennes are awarded a goal-kick.
37' The hosts have grown into the game as it has gone on and they are now starting to push PSG back, with the visitors not quite having the same amount of dominance as they did in the opening 25 minutes or so.
35' PSG look vulnerable at the back on the counter-attack, with Rennes pushing players forward and quickly, which is catching the visitors out.
33' We’re past the half an hour mark now and it remains goalless between Rennes and PSG, but it is the visitors who have look more dangerous so far, with Herrera and Neymar both going close to opening the scoring.
31' PENALTY SHOUT! Doku races past Kurzawa down the right and gets into the penalty area, before a slight collision between the two players and the Rennes striker goes down appealing for a spot-kick. However, the referee waves away his appeals.
30' VAR have just taken a quick look at the disallowed Rennes goal, just making sure that Doku was offside and the replays show that he was just in an offside position, so the decision stands.
29' GOAL RULED OUT! Rennes break forward on the counter and the ball eventually falls to Guirassy, who tries to curl an effort towards goal, but instead it strikes the chest of his team-mate Doku and he powers it into the back of the net. However, the offside flag goes up straight away and the goal is ruled out.
28' A win for PSG is vital in their quest to become Ligue 1 Champions once again, as Lille are not in action this weekend, so they have the opportunity to close the gap to just one-point.
26' PSG have won their last six Ligue 1 away games, the best current run in the competition. They could win seven consecutive Ligue 1 games on the road for the first time since January-April 2017 (8).
24' Good strike! Di Maria cuts inside from the right wing and drills a low shot towards the bottom right corner of the net, however, there isn't enough pace on it to beat Gomis and the keeper makes a good save.
22' Not too far away! Rennes break forward on the counter and Doku plays a good through ball to Terrier, who races in behind the PSG defence. However, he just can't reach it in time and Navas gathers.
20' There might be an issue for Neymar here as he is down after a challenge by Da Silva, with the Rennes defender catching him late. However, the referee decides that he doesn't require medical treatment and he will be fine to continue.
19' Despite a positive start by Rennes, they are starting to struggle at the back, with PSG creating more and more chances in front of goal and they probably should be ahead by now.
17' ANOTHER CHANCE! This time it falls to Neymar, after a quick counter by the visitors and Di Maria runs at the Rennes defence, before playing it out to Neymar to his left, who cuts inside and then drills a shot towards the near post, but he drags it narrowly wide of the post.
17' SAVE! Another opportunity for Herrera! Neymar whips a cross into the penalty area, which isn't dealt with by Rennes and Di Maria flicks it back to Herrera on the edge of the box, who drills a low strike towards the bottom left corner. However, Gomis gets down quickly and makes a superb save.
15' Awful effort! Maouassa steps up to take a free-kick which is in a good shooting position around 30 yards out, but he gets it all wrong and his effort flies well wide of the PSG goal. Terrible strike.
14' Free-kick to Rennes in a decent position around 30 yards out. after Kimpembe dives into a challenge with Tait and catches the midfielder on the foot. The referee gives the PSG man a warning as well.
12' Decent effort! Doku cuts inside from the left wing and tries to curl an effort towards goal, however, it is too close to Navas and the PSG keeper makes a comfortable save.
11' CHANCE! Herrera with a great opportunity to send PSG ahead! It comes after some great link-up play between Di Maria and Kurzawa down the left, playing a quick one-two and the left-back then got to the byline, before drilling a cross back into the middle for Herrera to run onto. However, the midfielder can only drag his effort narrowly wide of the post.
10' Rennes have lost 12 of their last 17 Ligue 1 games against Paris (W4 D1), after losing none of their previous 10 (W7 D3).
8' This is better from the visitors, they are currently camped inside the Rennes half of the pitch, trying to get into the final third. However, they just seem to be lacking the final ball at the moment.
6' Rennes fail to deal with a cross in from the left wing, with their clearance falling straight to Kean in the middle of the box, but it comes at him quickly and he fires his effort high over the goal.
4' PSG with some early possession now, but the hosts seem to be doing a good job of keeping them away from their final third. Rennes look very lively and seem to be trying to break forward on the counter.
2' CLOSE! Rennes with an opportunity in the opening few minutes! They work it well down the left wing and Tait manages to feed Doku in the penalty area, who fools Marquinhos and then drills an effort towards the near post. However, it flies just wide of the post. He should have been hitting the target from there.
1' We're under way!
The teams are out on the pitch and kick-off is just a few minutes away, stay tuned for all the match action!
