Commentary

That's all for today, goodbye!
That win moves Madrid into second, above Barcelona, just three points behind Atletico, but neither side has played yet this weekend. Their attention now turns to the Champions League though and their quarter-final against Liverpool. Eibar miss the chance to move out of the relegation zone and are now winless in their last 12 league games, with Levante up next for them.
Goals from Asensio and Benzema seal a 2-0 win for Real Madrid over Eibar. The hosts broke the deadlock in the 41st minute when Asensio lifted a shot over Dmitrovic from the edge of the box which nestled into the bottom corner. Benzema then added a second when he nodded his free header into the back of the net. Madrid also had three goals ruled out for offside and Asensio hit the bar with a free-kick in the first half.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: REAL MADRID 2-0 EIBAR.
Alejandro Pozo
Yellow Card
90' + 4' Pozo and Arribas were both going for the ball but there was a lot of force behind the right-back's challenge and he's shown a late yellow card.
90' + 3' Pozo has a lot of time on the right to pick out his low cross into Kike, but he has his back to goal and there's nothing he can do with it as Nacho is tight to him and forces him away from goal.
90' + 1' Inui has Cote up with him in support on the left and lays it off to him thinking he's in a better position for a cross. He's quickly closed down by Militao though and he can't find any space to curl the ball into the box.
89' Eibar are still trying to find a late consolation here after they win it back on the halfway line and Atienza drives forward down the left. He whips a good cross into Kike in the middle, but his cross is blocked by Militao and put out for a corner.
87' SAVE! Pozo's corner is only half-cleared by Madrid with Nacho heading it to Casemiro, whose clearance bounces to Inui. He drills his shot on goal first time, but it's straight at Courtois, who parries it away.
85' Kroos tries to backheel the ball to Casemiro, but Atienza reacts quickest and intercepts it for Eibar, threading it through to Kike. He spots Courtois off his line and tries to hook his long-range effort over the keeper, but it flies high over the crossbar.
83' Militao goes long looking for Mariano down the right, and the substitute does well to keep hold of it under pressure from Arbilla. He keeps it alive for Madrid, pulling it back for Vazquez, but his cross is blocked at the near post by Oliveira.
Cote
Rafa
81' Eibar are making their last change now as well and it's Cote that's coming on to replace Soares.
M. Díaz
K. Benzema
80' Madrid are making their final change and it's Benzema that's going off, with Mariano on for him.
78' Benzema is currently on his best scoring streak for Madrid in all competitions ever, after finding the back of the net in each of his last seven games in a row (nine goals).
Miguel Atienza
P. Diop
76' Diop is also being taken off, with Atienza replacing him.
Kévin Rodrigues
Pedro León
76' There's a double change for Eibar now and Leon is the first to make way, with Rodrigues on in his place.
75' Eibar just can't get a touch on the ball at the moment as Madrid attack again and Kroos picks out Benzema on the edge of the box. He chooses to go for goal himself, but his effort is straight down the middle at Dmitrovic, who holds onto it.
Vinícius Júnior
Assist
73' It was a great run by Vinicius down the left and he got away from Pozo with a burst of pace before whipping his cross back into the middle for Benzema.
K. Benzema
Goal
73' BENZEMA SCORES! Vinicius' run down the left drew some of the Eibar defenders to him which opened up the space in the middle. Benzema had a free header in the middle and nodded the substitute's cross past Dmitrovic and into the back of the net. 2-0 Madrid!
71' OFFSIDE! Eibar didn't clear their lines after Arribas' earlier cross and Modric has a shot blocked before Benzema puts his effort past Dmitrovic, only for the flag to go up against Arribas, who was offside earlier in the move.
70' Kroos squares it to Casemiro and he touches a throughball into Arribas first time. His low cross fizzes across the six-yard box and Vinicius slides in but can't make contact for an easy tap-in.
Vinícius Júnior
Marcelo
68' Marcelo is also making way, with Vinicius on to replace him.
Sergio Arribas
Isco
68' There's another double change for Madrid now and Isco is going off, with Arribas on for him.
66' It's better from Eibar now as they keep possession high up the field, but they're still struggling to find a way in behind Madrid. Kike turns away from Militao but then ends up giving the ball straight to Nacho.
64' Isco has just stayed down after winning a free-kick and it looks like he was accidentally caught in the back of the head by Diop's knee after he was fouled. He's slow to get back to his feet, but he'll be able to carry on without needing treatment.
62' Courtois is played into trouble after Vazquez plays an easy pass back to him but the goalkeeper didn't read it properly and it rolls past him and is sneaking in at the near post. He backtracks quickly and just manages to keep it out, giving away a corner.
Sergi Enrich
Aleix García
61' Eibar are making a change now as well and it's Garcia that's being taken off, with Enrich on for him.
Rodrygo
Asensio
61' The goal scorer, Asensio is also being taken off, with Rodrygo replacing him.
T. Kroos
L. Modrić
61' There's a double change for Madrid now and it's Modric that's making way first, with Kroos on in his place.
60' Inui wrongfoots Militao as he cuts inside from the left and he whips a dangerous cross into the box. He's looking for Kike in the middle and Mendy gets an important touch to it to take it out of reach of the forward.
58' Asensio has scored in three consecutive games in all competitions for the first time since May-August 2016 (three games, four goals in total).
56' Vazquez is given a lot of space down the right again and this time, he is able to pick out a team-mate in the middle with his cross. Benzema rises highest in the middle, but he sends his looping header over the bar.
54' Eibar are on the backfoot again here as Vazquez makes another driving run down the right. He whips an early cross into the box, but it's over Benzema and Asensio in the middle and Marcelo can't keep it in on the far side.
52' GOOD SAVE! Madrid break quickly and Modric squares it to Asensio, who has a lot of space on the right. He cuts inside, away from Soares and curls an effort on goal from outside the box which Dmitrovic gets a strong hand on to tip it over the crossbar.
50' Eibar are on the attack here and Soares carries the ball a long way out of his own half before laying it off to Kike in the middle. He tries to turn away from Nacho to get in on goal but ends up fouling the defender and giving away a free-kick instead.
48' Vazquez cuts inside from the right and he has a lot of time to pick out a shot before Soares closes him down. He's off-balance as he strikes it though and ends up curling it straight into Dmitrovic's gloves.
46' Madrid get us back underway for the second half!
T. Inui
Bryan Gil
46' There's a change for Eibar at the start of the second half, with Inui coming on to replace Gil.
Madrid have been in control of the game so far, limiting Eibar to very few chances and keeping the visitors under pressure, but Zidane will be hoping they can be more clinical in front of goal. As for Eibar, they've struggled to get on the ball at times and they'll need to take more risks if they want to get back into this game.
Asensio's goal gives Real Madrid a 1-0 lead over Eibar at half-time. The hosts had two goals disallowed for offside in the first half, with Benzema's header being ruled out by the flag before Asensio's flick past Dmitrovic was disallowed by VAR. Asensio also hit the bar with a free-kick but he managed to put his side ahead when he lifted a shot over the keeper and into the bottom-left corner.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: REAL MADRID 1-0 EIBAR.
45' Soares' drilled cross is nodded down by Kike in the middle for Diop on the edge of the box. He lets it bounce in front of him before hitting the shot on the volley, but it's straight down the middle at Courtois, who holds onto it.
43' Eibar just can't keep hold of the ball when they do get out of their own half at the moment as Alvarez tries to set Gil off down the right again. Vazquez is staying tight to him though and he can't find space for a cross.
Casemiro
Assist
41' Casemiro spots Asensio's run towards the box early and does well to pick him out.
Asensio
Goal
41' ASENSIO SCORES! The Eibar defenders just sit back when he gets the ball off Casemiro and he has time to carry it into the box before taking a shot. Dmitrovic rushes off his line, but the forward lifts his effort over the goalkeeper to pick out the bottom corner and this one will count. 1-0 Madrid!
40' Eibar just can't get out of their own half at the moment as Madrid continue to push forward. Oliveira nicks the ball off Isco and tries to play in Gil with a long ball over the top, but he ends up gifting the ball straight to Nacho.
38' NO GOAL! VAR has had a look at the goal and Asensio just set off too early and is standing in an offside position when he has the shot. The goal doesn't stand and it's still 0-0!
36' MADRID LEAD! Vazquez makes a great run down the right and he pulls the ball back for Isco, who is running onto the edge of the box. He drills his shot first time and Asensio gets a small flick on it to take it between Dmitrovic's legs and into the back of the net, but VAR is going to check this for offside...
35' Marcelo gets his head up and spots Casemiro making a run between the two Eibar central defenders. He whips an early cross into the Brazilian's path, but Dmitrovic quickly rushes off his line to reach it just ahead of him.
33' Isco loops a deep cross into the box from the left and he's looking for Benzema at the far post, but Arbilla clears it ahead of him. Modric has another chance to put the ball into the middle, but he can't find a way past Alvarez.
31' CHANCE! Leon does really well to keep the ball in play and lays it off to Pozo. He cuts inside from the right, wrongfooting Nacho in the process, and drills his shot towards the far post, but it flies well wide of the goal.
29' Kike is bundled down by Mendy on the right and Leon swings a good cross into the near post for Eibar. He can't pick out a team-mate though and Militao is there to clear the danger for Madrid.
27' Pozo plays a one-two with Leon to try and open up some space down the right and he manages to squeeze a cross into the box, where Kike is waiting in the middle. It's just behind him though and Nacho clears his lines.
25' It's great play from Madrid as the counter from Eibar's corner and Isco makes a driving run down the left wing. He pulls it back for Modric who floats a deep cross into the box but it's straight into Dmitrovic's gloves.
23' Madrid are on the attack again now and Marcelo cuts inside from the left to drill a shot on goal, but it's blocked by Oliveira. It rebounds to Isco and he drills a low effort down the middle, but it's a comfortable save for Dmitrovic.
21' OFF THE BAR! Asensio steps up to take the free-kick that Vazquez won on the left and he curls a shot towards goal despite the tight angle. It's over Dmitrovic's outstretched hand but it bounces back off the corner of the bar.
Bryan Gil
Yellow Card
20' Gil tried to nick the ball off Vazquez and then pulled him back. He's shown the first yellow card of the game and he'll miss the next match against Levante.
19' At home, Madrid have scored in each of their six LaLiga games against Eibar, scoring 16 goals in total and conceding only three (keeping three clean sheets).
17' Every time Madrid go forward, they're looking to Marcelo to make something happen down the left. This time, Modric picks him out, but Pozo isn't allowing him any time on the ball and he can't get a cross into the box.
15' Vazquez switches play out to Marcelo on the left, and he has a lot of space to run into. He chooses to square it to Modric instead, but he's caught on his heels and can't get to it ahead of Arbilla.
13' The corner is swung into the box for Madrid and it's only half-cleared as far as Modric on the edge of the box. He drills a shot through the crowd in the middle, but it's punched away by Dmitrovic.
11' Eibar are keeping the ball well at the moment and are patiently playing their way out from the back. Garcia spots Gil's run into the box and picks him out with a throughball, but he sends his first-time effort wide of the near post.
9' Casemiro makes a late run into the box to try and get on the end of Marcelo's cross at the far post, but he ends up on the ground. He's claiming he was pulled back by Soares, but there wasn't much in that and the referee waves the claim away.
7' Madrid are keeping the pressure on Eibar here as Benzema manages to pick out Casemiro in space just outside the box. He decides to go for goal from range, but his effort is blocked by Oliveira.
5' OFFSIDE! It's a brilliant cross into the far post from Marcelo on the left after he turns away from Pozo. He floats it into Benzema, who has pulled away from his defender again and nods it in, but it's disallowed as the flag goes up against the Frenchman.
4' SAVE! Benzema gets in behind Eibar's defence to reach Modric's pass and he's one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He takes it to the left, creating a tight angle for the shot, and Dmitrovic scrambles across to push it wide of the post.
2' Kike wins a free-kick in midfield which sets Eibar on a quick attack and forces Courtois into early action. Diop gets on the end of Garcia's pass and drills a shot at the near post, but Courtois pushes it away.
1' Kike gets the game underway for Eibar!
