Commentary

So PSG swat away Marseille for another season. Maybe this great rivalry will live up to its old billing again some day soon. Until then, Marseille can only dream. That's all for now. Goodbye!
That result leaves PSG 20 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 with 77 points after 28 games, a record at this stage of the competition. The 100 point mark is well within their reach - unsure whether that says more about PSG or the French top flight. Marseille stay fourth, six points behind Lyon. Their recent improvement in form may have come too late to give them a top three finish this year.
PSG continue their formidable run against Marseille - that's 19 games unbeaten against their great rivals in all competitions now. Marseille briefly threatened to shock the champions as Germain cancelled out Mbappe's first-half opener at the start of the second half, only for PSG to up their game with Di Maria scoring twice and Mbappe having a penalty saved at the end. No one in France can hold a candle to PSG again this year.
90' + 4' FULL TIME: PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN 3-1 MARSEILLE
Y. Pelé
Penalty Save
Olympique Marseille
90' + 4' Mbappe takes the penalty - it's a decent hit, but Pele drops low to his left to save! That will spare Marseille's embarrassment a little. PSG prepare to take the corner but there's no time.
90' + 3' PENALTY! Mbappe picks up the ball on the inside-right, jinks inside the box and is barged over by a clumsy Sakai. The Japanese defender holds his hands up - it's a clear foul.
90' + 2' Radonjic keeps a decent Strootman pass in play, approaches PSG's box from the left with a few stepovers and fails to beat the first PSG defender. That about sums the end to this game up.
90' There will be four added minutes - not that they're needed. Sakai tries to give Germain a ball to latch onto down the channel but Marquinhos is on hand to sweep up.
89' Germain heads Di Maria's free-kick out for a corner. PSG decide to take it short and keep possession.
H. Sakai
Yellow Card
Olympique Marseille
88' Sakai is booked for sliding in on Di Maria as the Argentine approaches Marseille's box from the right. PSG free-kick.
87' Marseille can't stop fouling Mbappe - Sanson is penalised this time - and every counter-attack they're trying is now breaking down. They're not going to score again.
85' Ocampos wins a free-kick for Marseille as he's fouled by Dagba. Marseille promptly do nothing with it.
84' Play is stopped again as Mbappe goes down holding his ankle. This time he was caught by Kamara as the defender challenged for a high ball successfully. The PSG man is wincing but he's fine to continue.
82' All the sting has gone out of this game now. Marseille have all ten men behind the ball - they're now playing something like a 5-3-1, trying to keep the scoreline respectable. What a sad state of affairs for one of France's finest clubs.
Juan Bernat
L. Kurzawa
PSG
80' Tuchel makes his final switch for PSG. Kurzawa off. Bernat on.
79' The referee gives Kamara a talking to after he clatters into the back of Paredes. Marseille's teenage defender needs to be careful - he's already been booked.
N. Radonjić
F. Thauvin
Olympique Marseille
77' Marseille make their final change. Thauvin is replaced on the flank by Radonjic.
75' Sarr wins a free-kick for Marseille as he's fouled by Verratti in Marseille's half. The away side can barely get out of their side of the pitch at the moment.
73' PSG are in full control of this game now. Strootman crashes into the back of Mbappe, and the young French star goes down like a stricken gazelle. PSG free-kick.
71' Kehrer's shot from the right side of Marseille's box is put out for a corner by Pele. Marseille deal with it well enough. They're understandably running out of steam now.
K. Strootman
M. Lopez
Olympique Marseille
69' Marseille have no choice but to chase this now. Lopez is replaced by Strootman.
Á. Di María
Goal
PSG
66' GOAL! 3-1 PSG! Di Maria makes Marseille pay for Mandanda's error. The Argentine steps up and curls an unstoppable free-kick that bounces into the net via the near post. That was delightful - he deserves his brace.
Y. Pelé
M. Balotelli
Olympique Marseille
65' Balotelli is the Marseille player to trudge off to a barrage of boos. Pele replaces Mandanda in goal.
63' There's an extended delay as Marseille figure out what to do. They will have to sacrifice a player here.
S. Mandanda
Red Card
Olympique Marseille
61' MANDANDA IS SENT OFF! The keeper races out of his box when Di Maria is set free on goal and foolishly extends his arms to save the shot! Had it been legal, that would have been a great save - but it wasn't. Marseille are down to 10 men!
59' Marseille get a free-kick down the left touchline after Dagba fouls Germain. PSG fans aren't impressed. Thauvin whips an in-swinger in with his right foot but PSG get the free-kick for a foul on Silva.
L. Ocampos
Yellow Card
Olympique Marseille
58' Ocampos is also booked for his part in that silly spat. Can everyone just play nice?
P. Kimpembe
Yellow Card
PSG
58' Kimpembe sees a yellow card for squaring up to Ocampos.
57' This derby is flaring up now. A late challenge by Verratti on Sanson causes almost all the players to barge in on each other. A few players will be booked here.
T. Kehrer
Assist
PSG
55' That goal came from some steady build-up play from PSG, particularly Kehrer's quick thinking in prodding the loose ball through to Di Maria when Marseille failed to clear it. PSG are back in control now.
Á. Di María
Goal
PSG
55' GOAL! 2-1 PSG! Di Maria is set free down the inside-right channel, jinks inside on his left foot and lashes a shot from a tight angle past Mandanda in at his far post!
53' Since Marseille's goal PSG have dominated the ball. One senses a goal is coming soon if Marseille aren't careful.
51' PSG win a free-kick from a similar distance as the late one - this time it's Thauvin on Mbappe. Di Maria plays it quickly to Kurzawa whose dangerous cross is stubbed out for a corner. Marseille clear it.
49' Di Maria wins a free-kick when he's fouled by Kamara 30 metres from goal. Paredes steps up and blazes the ball well over.
48' Marseille have their tails up now. Balotelli attempts to power towards the PSG defence until he's dispossessed. Balotelli shrugs with typical indifference.
L. Ocampos
Assist
Olympique Marseille
46' That was a great start to the half by Ocampos who made Marquinhos look sluggish there. Marseille are back in it!
V. Germain
Goal
Olympique Marseille
46' GOAL! 1-1! Marseille equalise straight from the kick-off! Ocampos beats Marquinhos to a direct ball down the left, cuts inside and lays off to Germain who sweeps the ball past Areola into the net!
46' Marseille get the second half underway!
With Mbappe's goal, PSG have now scored in all of their last 28 Ligue 1 games - obviously the best ongoing record in the league. Marseille are second-best in that category though - they've found the net in each of their last 13 games. Can the visitors find an equaliser here?
PSG just about deserve their half-time lead, even if they haven't been entirely convincing. The champions elect have looked menacing on the counter and could have taken the lead earlier if Di Maria's goal hadn't rightly been chalked off for offside. Marseille have looked competent but need to do more in the second half to come away with a result.
45' + 2' HALF TIME: PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN 1-0 MARSEILLE
Á. Di María
Assist
PSG
45' + 2' That was a lovely assist from Di Maria. Just what PSG needed on the brink of half-time.
K. Mbappé
Goal
PSG
45' + 2' GOAL! 1-0 PSG! From Silva heading the corner away, a long ball upfield finds Di Maria. The Argentine takes it down beautifully, dribbles for a ew seconds and lays off for Mbappe who smashes it past Mandanda first time!
45' + 1' Now it's Marseille's turn to get a corner as Thauvin's cross from the edge of the box is blocked by Marquinhos. It's headed away and...
45' There will be two added minutes here. This hasn't been the greatest match, in truth.
44' Ocampos teases Marquinhos on the wing before electing to pass back inside. PSG soon win the ball back. Mbappe unleashes a fizzing shot which is central enough for Mandanda to claim.
42' Mbappe wins a corner for PSG as he's crowded out by Kamara. PSG take it short and Paredes' shot from range sails way wide, going out for a throw on the right. That was poor.
40' Marseille almost make progress down their left through Sanson until Silva shields the ball, suckering the midfielder into fouling him. Down the other end, Kurzawa has his deflected shot comfortably caught by Mandanda.
Á. Di María
Yellow Card
PSG
38' Lopez wins a free-kick from Dagba in Marseille's half. There's a bit of argy-bargy between both sides as PSG disagree with the decision. Di Maria is booked for dissent.
T. Kehrer
T. Meunier
PSG
36' It looks like PSG will have to use two of their subs before half time. Meunier is the player that has to go off injured now. Kehrer takes his place.
35' Caleta-Car beats Mbappe to a header. Mbappe signals for a card but it's not forthcoming. The crowd show their frustration when Balotelli wins a foul from Paredes seconds later.
34' Marseille pop the ball around for a while. They're holding their own here but aren't threatening PSG very much.
32' Marseille are more than aware of PSG's counter-attacking threat, taking PSG's players out off the ball whenever they spring forward. This time it's Sanson on Di Maria. A cynical tactic, but a wise one.
C. Dagba
Dani Alves
PSG
31' PSG have been forced into an early change. The injured Alves is replaced by Dagba.
30' PSG's free-kick leads to a corner down their left. Mandanda punches it away and Marseille can break! Ocampos takes one touch too many and loses out to Di Maria.
B. Kamara
Yellow Card
Olympique Marseille
28' Marseille look most vulnerable when they attack. PSG charge forward again as the away side overcommit, and Kamara is booked for bringing down Mbappe.
L. Kurzawa
Yellow Card
PSG
26' Kamara heads the corner away. Kurzawa is then booked for simulation as he goes down when Sarr blocks him off from running onto a direct ball.
24' Both sides are looking nifty on the counter! After Marseille charge upfield and lose the ball, Meunier surges down the inside-right channel and lets fly, forcing Mandanda to tip his shot over the bar. PSG corner.
22' PSG are taking care of the ball without creating much. Balotelli presses Marquinhos into passing back to Areola and PSG start again. Di Maria races onto a loose pass to set Paredes away down the left but his fellow Argentine just fails to keep the ball in play.
21' The PSG fans are making a mighty racket. They've been singing non-stop since kick-off - it's just as well, as not much is happening right now.
19' From the free-kick Marseille pressure Meunier into giving away a corner. Kamara heads over from Thauvin's delivery.
Thiago Silva
Yellow Card
PSG
17' Silva is shown a yellow card for a foul on Balotelli. The mercurial Italian is making a nuisance of himself.
16' No goal! Di Maria's goal is chalked off for offside. Marseille got a lucky escape there.
15' GOAL! PSG score with their first attack of the game. Lopez is disposessed, Veratti threads a through-ball to Di Maria who lifts the ball over the onrushing Mandanda. Oh, hang on - VAR is taking a look...
13' Mbappe shows his pace for the first time in the game as he bursts down the left hand side for PSG, leaving Caleta-Car in the dust. Unfortunately for PSG he can't find a team-mate.
11' PSG are trying to attack but aren't having much luck so far. The injured Neymar is looking surly in the stands.
10' Marseille aren't here to roll over. First Sarr wins a free-kick in his own half when he's fouled by Kurzawa. The away side then win a corner down their right off Silva. PSG head it clear.
8' Marseille save Mandanda's blushes by clearing the corner comfortably. They then get the ball upfield and win a throw down their left. The long throw finds Caleta-Car in the box who heads his attempted flick-on over.
6' What happened there? Caleta-Car makes what should be a routine backpass to Mandanda, only for the veteran keeper to almost kick it into his own net! Luckily for Mandanda the ball rolls just wide for a corner, but that was nearly hugely embarrassing.
5' The partisan home ground really are giving Marseille some grief, whistling every time they have the ball. The away side squander possession and PSG have their own turn at the passing the ball at the back.
4' Di Maria is incensed after he manages to dribble his way to Marseille's goalline. The ball looks to have gone out for a corner off Sarr but the referee gives Marseille a goal-kick.
2' Marseille start the game well. After both sides exchange possession a bit, Ocampos tries to muscle his way down the left flank for Marseille but is blocked off by Meunier. Balotelli then tests Areola with an early shot from range. It's a comfortable claim for the keeper.
1' PSG get the 96th Classique underway!
The two sides enter the field - PSG in their dark blue, Marseille in their light blue. The atmosphere at the Parc des Princes is fantastic.
Anything but a PSG win here would be a shock - PSG have won their last 14 home games in Ligue 1 and have only lost one of their last 56 - a who-cares 2-0 giveaway to Rennes in May 2018 when the league was already sewn up. Marseille's recent record against the champions is also woeful. Then again, Balotelli has found a new lease of life since joining Marseille - he's scored five in his last seven games. Can the Italian conjure up some magic today?
PSG boss Thomas Tuchel makes two changes to his team after their 4-0 walkover of Dijon earlier this week. Both of those are in midfield as Alves returns from suspension and Paredes recovers from injury. Nkunku and Bernat drop to the bench. Marseille name an unchanged side from the one that narrowly beat Nice last weekend. Their January signing Balotelli keeps his place - entertainment is guaranteed.

PSG still have pride to play for, though, and Marseille - who've won five of their last six games - remain in the hunt for the top three and a spot in next season's Champions League. Can Marseille spring a surprise against PSG like Man Utd did last week? Let's find out!
PSG proved that Le Classique isn't the rivalry it was when these sides last met last October as Kylian Mbappe came off the bench to sentence Marseille to a 2-0 defeat. That was PSG's record 11th victory in a row, putting them eight points clear at the top of Ligue 1. That gap is now 17 points, and the Ligue 1 title is certain to return to Paris for another year.
