Nakumatt picked their eighth point in three games that pushed them off the bottom of the Kenyan Premier League table following a 2-1 victory against Tusker.

Nakumatt came from two goals down to hold AFC Leopards to a 2-2 draw at Machakos Stadium and if maybe one thought that their 3-2 victory against Zoo FC was a fluke, the Shoppers confirmed their last two performances with another talking point display when they edged the former champions.

Nakumatt used the same injection that Kariobangi Sharks handed a dizzy Robert Matano side last weekend with identical score line as the Brewers prepares for week 17 still waiting for the first win in three games.

Kevin Wangui gave Nakumatt the lead in the 15the minute with a long-range shot from the edge of the box. Nakumatt turned Tusker’s defence inside out with nine uninterrupted touches that resulted in a goal with Wangui’s last touch on the ball after he was set off by Moss Odhiambo.

Boniface Mukhekhe missed a golden chance after he stole the ball from a Tusker defender only to shoot wide with David Okello already sliding on the floor. Supporting striker Brain Osumba hit an equalizer with his third goal of the season for Tusker in the 31st minute for a 1-1 result at the break.

Timonah Wanyonyi went into the referee’s book immediately after resumption on a foul on Boniface Muchiri and Cornelius Lusaka restored Nakumatt’s lead in the 58th minute with a beauty after connecting a cross from the right with his left foot.

The goal handed Matano his second defeat since his return to Ruaraka in April.

Nakumatt, who will take on Posta Rangers in their last match of the first leg, used the ineffective Tusker’s attacking right flank to inject another painful defeat in the heart of ‘The Lion’.
