Commentary

That is all tonight folks, thanks for joining us once again. Goodbye!
France will now head to Russia ahead of their Group C campaign against Australia, Peru and Denmark. They will need to improve to live up to their pre-tournament hype. However, the USA will head home and start to plan for the next World Cup.
The referee ends proceedings and it is frustration for the home side in Lyon. They had 18 shots at goal tonight but they were far too sloppy. There is no doubt that the USA will feel like they got lucky tonight but they will learn from the experience.
90' + 5' FULL-TIME - France 1-1 USA.
90' + 4' OFF THE LINE!!!! Dembele tries to find the bottom corner after a save from Steffen but the USA claw it away and that should be that.
90' + 2' Less than two minutes of the match to go and France may get one more chance...
90' + 1' CHANCE - Lemar bursts into the box and tries to find the bottom corner but he puts too much curl on his shot and a goal kick is given.
90' Four minutes of stoppage time in Lyon...
T. Lemar
K. Mbappé
France
88' Mbappe is given a round of applause as he makes way and he has played himself into contention ahead of the World Cup. On comes Lemar for the dying minutes.
88' Steffen comes to the rescue as he leaves his line to collect a Fekir cross. Another half chance goes begging for the home side.
86' Four minutes plus stoppage time for France to find a winner.
84' The USA are doing all they can to frustrate France and it is working at the minute.
J. Villafaña
A. Robinson
United States
82' Another sub for the USA as Robinson makes way for Villafana.
80' France seem to have finally woken up and Fekir tests Steffen with a free-kick. The tempo has massively improved and the stats show it is 15-1 in terms of goal attempts.
W. McKennie
Yellow Card
United States
79' McKennie grabs a yellow card after a sloppy challenge.
K. Mbappé
Goal
France
78' GOAAALLLL FRANCE! It is now 1-1 after Mbappe found the back of the net. The USA let their guard down and the PSG man wasted no time as he found the far corner with a low shot. Game on!!!
B. Pavard
Assist
France
78' Pavard claims the assist after his low cross split open the USA defence.
75' Sarachan's men are doing a great job of limiting space, especially on the edge of their own box.
D. Yedlin
S. Moore
United States
74' Yedlin is also on and the Newcastle man replaces Moore, the only man to be booked as of yet.
B. Pavard
D. Sidibé
France
74' Pavard is now on the field and he replaces Sidibe who slipped to allow USA to score in the first half.
J. Sargent
B. Wood
United States
74' Wood has worked hard up front tonight and is starting to look tired. Sargent will get 15 minutes to make an impact in Lyon.
71' Deschamps will be pleased to see his team keep going after a number of subs but they are still not at their best. They have lacked some spark in front of goal and this will unsettle the camp before the World Cup.
J. Corona
J. Green
United States
70' The USA make their first change as Green is brought off for Corona.
N. Fekir
A. Griezmann
France
69' Liverpool target Fekir is now stripped off and ready to go as Griezmann makes way.
69' CHANCE - Mbappe calls rank with the free-kick and whips a shot to the far post but he is inches away from finding the far corner.
S. Moore
Yellow Card
United States
68' Moore receives the first yellow card of the night as he concedes a free-kick after pulling down Hernandez on the edge of the box.
67' After seeing a number of his team-mates shoot over the bar, Pogba tries to keep his effort under control. The problem is the United man does not put enough power on his shot and Steffen brings into his chest and clears immediately.
L. Hernández
B. Mendy
France
66' Another sub as Mendy gets a rest and receives a round of applause. Hernandez, who started against Italy, now comes on.
64' The home defence clear without trouble and now Mendy has a chance to build from the back.
63' Robinson has a rare chance to get forward and he wins a corner after seeing his cross take a touch off Sidibe.
61' Mbappe bursts onto a loose pass just outside the box but he sees his shot blocked by a lunging tackle from Carter-Vickers.
61' Never nice to see a clash of heads but it gives the subs a chance to make a name for themselves with just 30 minutes remaining.
E. Palmer-Brown
M. Miazga
United States
60' Miazga has also been forced off with a head injury and Palmer-Brown will now get the chance to impress.
O. Dembélé
O. Giroud
France
58' Deschamps has decided to rest Giroud now after that cut and on comes Dembele for the final 30 minutes.
C. Tolisso
B. Matuidi
France
58' Matuidi has been busy throughout the first 60 mins or so but he is now replaced by Tolisso.
57' Giroud and Miazga are the two players that are down. The latter has blood pouring from a wound, while Giroud is slowly getting back to his feet after suffering a cut himself.
55' We have a break in play here as both teams have a player down due to a clash of heads.
52' Deschamps looks on as his side carve open the USA defence but Matuidi falls over as he tries to score and he slices his shot into the crowd as a result.
51' Few signs of frustration from the crowd as they urge their team forward.
50' Not the best stat for Tottenham man Lloris. He has conceded at least one goal in each of his last 5 games for Les Bleus.
49' Matuidi tries to make an immediate response by driving forward but he can only fire his shot into the stands.
48' GOAL DISALLOWED - Huge moment in the match as USA put the ball into the back of the net once again but Green is flagged offside and France survive. What a shock that would have been!
47' Solid start to the second half as Griezmann tries his luck from outside the box but he cannot wrap his foot around the ball and his shot sails past the far post.
46' We are back underway in Lyon.
Although they are leading, the USA really need to do more to win the ball and try and start some of their own attacks in the second 45 minutes. They are sitting deep and inviting France onto them. Expect plenty of changes as well of course, it is a friendly after all.
What a final minute of the half that was as the USA claim the lead with their only shot of the match so far. Green is the hero and the USA have taken the lead despite having just 35 per cent posession. France looked in control and should be at least one-nil up but it was not to be and there were a few boos at the interval.
45' HALF TIME France 0-1 USA.
J. Green
Goal
United States
44' GOAL USA 0-1!!! Unbelievable scenes as the visitors score with the their first shot of the match. France failed to clear a weak cross after Sidibe slipped and Green turns on a six pence and somehow squeezes the ball past Lloris at the near post.
44' Slight scare as France miss the ball but they clear at the second attempt.
43' In a rare moment of positivity, USA win a corner and Trapp has gone across to take it.
42' Griezmann shows signs of frustration as he picks the ball up on the right wing before cutting inside and shooting towards goal. He drags it wide and Steffen will ready himself for the goal kick.
41' The answer is no as the USA head away with ease. Less than five minutes to go and the scoreline is still 0-0.
40' France win another corner...can they create something from this one?
38' CHANCE FRANCE!!! Griezmann falls to his knees in shock as he curls an effort wide of the far post. He did brilliantly to pick up a pocket of space on the edge of the box but he failed to slot the ball into the bottom corner.
35' It remains 0-0 and that will come as a shock to the home fans in attendance. Both Wood and and Green have not had a touch all night!
33' CHANCE - Two crosses from the home side come to nothing but Pogba finally makes something of the third. The Manchester United man reacted quickly on the edge of the box but his low shot was saved by Steffen.
31' Another warning sign for the USA as they scramble to defend a cross but Kante takes his eye off the ball and the chance goes begging.
29' Both Matuidi and Mendy are being given far too much space on the left wing and the USA need to do something about it before they fall behind.
27' CHANCE - Mbappe again gets into a good position but Parker just does enough to steer Matuidi's cross away from danger.
27' The corner was taken short and that played into the hands of the USA who cleared easily.
26' CHANCE - Mbappe works a one-two with Griezmann before unleashing a driven effort and Steffen is on hand to tip it over the crossbar.
23' It seems like it is a matter of time before France open the scoring, with USA yet to even launch an attack.
21' Right on time, Griezmann beats the offisde trip and tries to float his shot into the far corner but it takes a deflection and he wins a corner.
20' Griezmann continues to float into free space inside the first 20 minutes but the Atletico man has yet to have a shot on goal himself.
17' A well-worked move releases Matuidi down the left and the former Paris Saint-Germain man nearly picks out Giroud. However, Steffen remains composed and collects the ball on the edge of his six-yard box.
16' The Groupama Stadium is a lucky stomping ground for France having lost just once in 10 appearances at the ground. They have won six and drawn two coming into tonight's contest.
14' There has been a drop in tempo in the last three or four minutes and that has natrually suited the USA. However, Griezmann and Giroud continue to look sharp as they push for a starting spot.
12' Still early days but the USA are struggling to keep up with the tempo at the moment.
10' CHANCE - The Atletico Madrid man finds Giroud at the far post but he heads straight into the hands of Steffen - big chance for the targetman.
9' Deschamps' men win a free kick after Mbappe is tripped on the touchline...Griezmann to take.
8' Boos can be heard around the Groupama Stadium as Giroud goes down in the box and the Chelsea man is adamant Carter-Vickers was pulling his shirt. Nothing given and it remains 0-0.
7' Pogba has had a rough time of late with the France fans but that shot will certainly get them more on side. Steffen was helpless and just a lick of paint has stopped France from taking the lead.
5' CHANCE FRANCE! The home fans are on their feet as the ball rattles the post and it was Pogba who tried to find the top corner from a tight angle but it was not to be.
4' Pogba gathers posession from the resulting set piece but his cross is cleared at the first attempt.
3' Positive start from France as Meny wins a corner after a strong run into the box from the left wing.
2' Interesting to see Deschamps use a 4-3-1-2 formation tonight with Griezmann playing behind two strikers. Many have tried to guess France's forward line for the World Cup and this could be a big hint as to what his plans are.
1' We are underway in Lyon after a little cameo appearance from Aime Jacquet. France in their traditional blue and white and the USA in all white this evening.

Tonight's TEAM NEWS coming up...
Goals should be expected this evening with Les Bleus scoring two goals in each of their last seven matches. That could spell trouble for the visitors!
France have won all three of the previous meetings against the USA, which have all been friendlies. They won 6-0 and 3-0 in 1979 and 1-0 at the Stade de France in November 2011.
The United States will compete in their final friendly for three months as they failed to qualify for Russia but tonight is another chance to learn from one of Europe's best teams. Dave Sarachan's troops have won two of their last five heading into this contest.
Didier Deschamps' side have been in good form of late, winning their last three in a row. They were last in action against Italy on June 1, with Deschamps' men eventually winning 3-1 on that occasion.
Hello and welcome to tonight's live coverage of the international friendly between France and the USA. The game will take place at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon as Les Bleus prepare to play their final fixture before heading to the World Cup in Russia.
