After gaining promotion to the Premier League and winning the 2018 FAM Cup title, Terengganu City players can rest assured that they will be rewarded with financial bonus.
On Thursday, they defeated Selangor United 2-0 in the final match that was held at the KLFA Stadium, thanks to Rahizi Rasib's 52nd minute goal, and Khairul Ramadhan Zauwawi's 71st minute penalty.
It is a wonderful achievement for the club which have experienced several financial setbacks, including ownership limbo and missed wage payment, since they first joined Malaysia's professional football pyramid in 2017.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, head coach Md Noor Derus credited his charges' hardwork for the win.
"Praise Allah for the victory. I have to commend my players who always give their all in training and during matches. They've shown that we are deserving winners of the FAM Cup this season.
"Against United, we had to be wary of their counter-attacks at first, and the players marked the opponents well when they went up," said Noor.
He also hinted that the players may receive some of the RM 200,000 (around USD 48,000) prize money won by the club as champions.
"God willing, there'll be something (as bonus) for tonight's win," he remarked. "We've been patient all this while, and hopefully something will come our way."
The former Melaka United assistant coach also described what the FAM Cup title means to him.
"As assistant to Mat Zan Mat Aris I won the FAM Cup and the Premier League, but tonight is my first title as head coach.
"This experience is priceless to younger coaches such as me, who are always eager to learn from the more experienced ones, by going up against them," said Noor.
