A young Three Lions team held Tite's side at Wembley on Tuesday evening despite the Selecao doing everything they could to break them down

Neymar was pleased with Brazil's display during their 0-0 draw against England on Tuesday evening but has labelled Gareth Southgate's side as "defensive".

The Three Lions boss fielded a youthful team against Tite's Brazil, with Joe Gomez, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Marcus Rashford named in the starting XI.

Dominic Solanke and Tammy Abraham also made substitute appearances, while Brazil's front three consisted of Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus.

Despite the strength of the Brazil forward line, however, England were able to hold on for a clean sheet.

"We tried everything," Neymar told reporters after the game. "We had ball possession and we had chances to score, but we knew this was a squad which defends more than other teams.

"I'm satisfied with our game, we didn't give chances to our opponents, we tried to create them. We made things difficult for them and that's a good thing for us.

"It's a good way of training, of working - of seeing what's lacking so that we could win. But I'm happy with the year we had, we will end in a good manner, and that's all that matters."

Asked whether teams set up expecting Brazil to dominate play, Neymar added: "Yes, maybe. But that's always a surprise for me.

"Against Japan [a 3-1 victory] we had to be very defensive. You never know. Each team has a style but I guess most of our games will be as demanding as the one today."

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus was also happy with the performance against the Three Lions and believes it sums up a positive 2017 for the nation.

"This game gives a good impression of us," he added. "I guess it sums up our year, a very good one.

"Today we played against a very strong squad, tactically, technically and physically. It wouldn't be easy and we knew it.

"We also made things difficult for them and, as I´ve said, the only thing that didn't come was a goal."
