Ugandan coach picks KPL league as the best in the region

Kenyan Premier League is the most competitive league in the region according to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) assistant team manager Byekwaso Morley

Morley, who is in the country with the Ugandan champions for a mid-season tour, spoke after his side forced a 1-0 win over former KPL champion Tusker on Monday.

“The KPL has really grown over the years and it’s the best league in East Africa right now. It has produced some of the best players in the region,” Morley was quoted by KPL website.

KCCA have lined two more matches against AFC Leopards (Wednesday) and Sofapaka on Friday, though the Ugandan said that their defeat to Kenyan champions Gor Mahia came as a shocker.

“We thought it would be wise to bring our players to Kenya for a good mid-season break programme since the country is home to some of the best teams in the region that is Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, Sofapaka and AFC Leopards.

“We were shocked when we lost to Gor Mahia in our first match, but we rectified our mistakes and the win against Tusker FC proves it.”

KCCA lost their opening match 4-2 to Gor Mahia at Afraha Stadium on Saturday.
