Swansea suffer Premier League blow as Bony suffers hamstring injury

Swansea striker Wilfried Bony suffered a hamstring injury during Monday’s 3-1 defeat to Everton, manager Paul Clement has confirmed.

The Cote d’Ivoire international pulled up in discomfort at the beginning of the game and was substituted after four minutes, with Tammy Abraham coming on in his place.

Clement is unsure of the extent of Bony’s hamstring injury, though he remains hopeful.

“It was a strange one,” he told club website.

“It was only two minutes into the game and I don’t know what action he had done at that point to create the injury.

“He has injured his hamstring but how significant it is we are not sure.

“Hamstring injuries are normally a minimum of seven to 10 days, but we will have to see if it is worse than that.”

Bony whose season has been plagued with injury since his return from Manchester City is now a major doubt for Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace.

Swansea sit at the base of the English topflight log with 12 points from 18 matches.
