Swansea City’s Andre Ayew set for Burnley encounter

Andre Ayew is set for Swansea City clash with Burnley in Saturday’s English Premier League game at the Liberty Stadium

The Ghana international rejoined the Swans on transfer deadline day from West Ham United for a club record fee of €22.9 million.

However, the forward has not featured for the side since his return to Swansea, due to a hamstring injury he picked playing for the Hammers against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup.

But, having returned to full training for Carlos Carvalhal’s men, the former Olympique Marseille player is hoping he can help the side continue their eight-match unbeaten run when they take on the Clarets.

“I have had a full week of training and feel ready but we will have to see – it will be up to the boss,” Ayew told club website.

“I am excited to have this second opportunity with Swansea. I am 28 and still have a lot to give.

“The team have put together a great run in the last few weeks and I hope to help build on that with the games we have in the coming weeks.”

Despite their recent impressive run, the Swans are just one place above the relegation zone after securing 24 points from 26 games and the forward is upbeat that the Liberty Stadium outfit will overcome the challenge.

“You are always under pressure in life, but we have a great club with great fans,” Ayew added.

“There are a lot of people behind our team. I am confident, but we must not be afraid to take challenges.

“We want to stay in the Premier League and as a team, we are going to do everything to make sure we achieve that.”

Ayew scored 12 league goals in 34 outings in his first stint with Swansea and will hope to hit the ground running when they meet Burnley on Saturday.
