Cape Town City defeated Black Leopards in a PSL match at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Citizens were eyeing their second successive win in the league having thrashed AmaZulu FC 3-0 at home two weeks ago.
On the other hand, Lidoda Duvha were keen to snap their four-match winless run in the league having lost 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs in midweek.
The hosts got off to a perfect start as they broke the deadlock just 10 minutes into the match with Bradley Ralani setting up Ayanda Patosi , who scored to make it 1-0 to City.
However, the lead only lasted for 12 minutes as the visitors levelled matters through Mwape Musonda to make it 1-1 after the City defence was left exposed.
The Citizens then pressed their away side as they looked to restore their lead with the half-time break fast approaching and they did score through Allan Kateregga.
The Ugandan attacker beat Leopards goalkeeper King Ndlovu to make it 2-1 to City with new South Africa international Thabo Nodada grabbing an assist.
City were leading 2-1 at the interval following a lively first half.
Teko Modise and Gift Links were introduced by the hosts as they looked to extend their lead in the second half.
Lidoda Duvha pushed forward in numbers as they searched for the equalizing goal, but their defence was left vulnerable most of the time.
City managed to seal their 3-1 win over Leopards when Siphelele Mthembu scored with a header from Roland Putsche's corner-kick with five minutes left on the clock.
The victory took the Citizens to eighth place on the league standings, while Lidoda Duvha remained 14th on the table.
Meanwhile, AmaZulu were held by a stubborn Polokwane City in another PSL match at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Usuthu were eager to end their six-match winless run in the league having lost 3-0 to Cape Town City away two weeks ago.
Rise and Shine were hoping to return to winning ways in the league having lost 2-1 to Orlando Pirates at home in midweek.
The hosts dominated the match from the start with 40-year-old forward Siyabonga Nomvethe looking lively as he looked to break the deadlock for Usuthu.
Thembela Sikhakhane played a delightful cross for Nomvethe, who rose at the back post, but his header went agonisingly wide with the Rise and Shine defence exposed in the 14th minute.

AmaZulu kept pushing for the opening goal with the likes of Nomvethe, Emiliano Tade and Bonginkosi Ntuli working hard upfront, but they were wasteful in front of goal.
The score was 0-0 at half-time following a first half which was dominated by Usuthu.
Rise and Shine came back rejuvenated following their half-time team talk with their Serbian coach Jozef Vukusic, who is the PSL Coach of the Month for October 2018.
The visitors had a great opportunity to score when Mohammed Anas set-up Vusimuzi Mngomezulu, who missed the target from close range in the 48th minute.
However, the hosts still looked dangerous every time they pushed forward and they hit the crossbar through Ntuli with Polokwane goalkeeper Harold Ndlovu rooted to the ground in the 67th minute.
Both teams launched late attacks as they searched for a winning goal, but Ndlovu and his AmaZulu counterpart Siyabonga Mbatha made crucial saves.
Ultimately, AmaZulu and Polokwane drew 0-0 on the day as they shared the spoils in Durban.
The draw saw Usuthu remain 16th on the league standings, while Rise and Shine climbed up to fourth place on the table.
