Sumareh finally joins up with Malaysia

The Pahang attacker has begun training with the Malaysia national team after missing out on the first two days of training.

Mohamadou Sumareh finally turned up in Melaka for the Malaysia national team training on Wednesday ahead of the next international friendly on Friday against Sri Lanka.

The 24-year-old was supposed to arrive in Melaka on Monday like the rest of the squad but Goal understand that he was waiting for the official release from Football Association of Pahang.

Sumareh is the first naturalised player to be called up for Malaysia under the guidance of head coach Tan Cheng Hoe as he will be experimented during this international break window.

Nominally a wide attacker, Sumareh will be testing his qualities against the likes of Nor Hakim Hassan, Syazwan Zainon, Mahalli Jasuli and Akhyar Rashid for a place in the starting line-up.

The team ended a three-day training in Melaka today and will be flying out to Colombo, Sri Lanka later in the evening. After the match on the 12th, the team will return to prepare in Melaka ahead of the second friendly against Kyrgyzstan at Hang Jebat Stadium on 16 October.

The two friendlies are a continuation of Tan's preparation for the team ahead of the 2018 AFF Suzuki Cup that starts in November. In the previous match, Malaysia won 3-1 away at Cambodia after a poor defeat at the hands of Chinese Taipei.
