Socceroos Watch: Jamie Maclaren fires Hibernian past Celtic and Tom Rogic

Socceroos striker Jamie Maclaren will have bragging rights over national teammate Tom Rogic after the Hibernian attacker inspired his Scottish side to a 2-1 upset win over Celtic.

The 24-year-old, on loan from German club Darmstadt 98, fired home in the 24th minute after he was picked out at the far post by Lewis Stevenson.

That strike made it four goals from 11 appearances for the former Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory attacker as he shows why he should be on the plane for the Socceroos to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

A second Hibs goal from substitute Vykintas Slivka would seal the result for Maclaren's men with Celtic pegging one back late through Odsonne Edouard.

Rogic played the full 90 minutes for Celtic and looked particularly dangerous early as his high-flying side were temporarily brought down to earth despite the fact they should wrap up the Scottish Premiership next week.

Hibernian's win moves them clear in fourth, just three points shy of Rangers and Aberdeen in second and third respectively.

Celtic meanwhile sit 13 points clear in first with yet another domestic title firmly in their hands.
