Shakhtar Donetsk striker Olanrewaju Kayode fined for illegal cash import into Ukraine

Shakhtar Donetsk striker Olanrewaju Kayode was fined over €66 for attempting to bring €26,500 cash into Ukraine without declaring it.

According to the Ukrainian legislation, no more than €10,000 in cash can be brought into the country without a declaration being made.

Kayode went through the "green corridor" - intended for persons who do not file a declaration - at Kyiv's Boryspil airport. However, in conversation with customs officials, he admitted that he had "€10,000-20,000 in cash".

During the audit, the exact amount established was €26,500. Olarenwaju was given €10,000 and the rest were seized.

Boryspil district court district court took into account that the funds were obtained legally - previously Kayode took them to the Spanish Caixa Bank, as well as the fact that they were intended for the maintenance of his wife and three children.

Kayode was later fined about 2,000 hryvnyas [about €66] and the retained money was returned to him.

The 24-year-old joined Shakhtar in early March from Manchester City on loan until the end of the season.

Kayode has played in five matches for the Miners and scored three goals.
