Mathare United came from a goal down to salvage a point against Thika United in a closely contested Kenyan Premier League match played on Sunday.
Eugine Mukangula was the first to hit the back of the net, but the resilient 2008 league champions restored parity in the second half. The ‘slum boys’ assistant coach Salim Ali is contented with the outcome terming the match as a tight one.
“We did not play well especially in the first half, it took us time to settle and we got punished. However, the second half was better, we improved and played better and managed to get an equalizer that we so much needed.
“Matches against Thika United have been always tight, but the good thing is that we managed to get something from the match.”
The ‘slum boys’ are currently placed second on the log with thirty-two points after nineteen outings.
