Dutch youth star of Ghanaian descent Derrick Luckassen has completed a five-year move to Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven.

The 22-year-old joins the Red and Whites from AZ Alkmaar following a successful medical on Monday.

Phillip Cocu's side beat off competition from the likes of Feyenoord, English club Crystal Palace and French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.

"I am extremely proud to make this transition," Luckassen told his new club's official website.

"I have chosen pure sense of PSV. There were some other options, but I think PSV is a nice club, one that suits me.

"I hope to experience very beautiful times here.

"I'm fast, strong and want to prove myself. I have to work hard to get to play and I will do that too."

Until now, Luckassen has spent all his senior club career at AZ, with whom he made his professional bow against Dordrecht in 2014.

He found himself on the wish list of top clubs following a run of impressive performances for the Cheeseheads.

The defender cum midfielder made 35 Eredivisie appearances, all starts, and netted three times as AZ finished sixth last season.

He also made 12 outings, all starts, in the Europa League same campaign.

Luckassen, born to Ghanaian parents in Amsterdam, remains eligible to represent the Black Stars at senior level although he currently plays for the Netherlands at youth stage.
