Plateau Queens grabs a second chance in Chapa Dimba tourney

Plateau Queens took full advantage of a second chance presented to them to secure a place in the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Nyanza regional tournament after Bondo Ladies were disqualified from the games.

Platuae Queens from Nyando had lost by a solitary goal to Bondo Ladies in the girls’ semi-final only to be reinstated back to the tournament after the later was found guilty of fielding ineligible players in the Kisumu County games held over the weekend in Kisumu City.

The Bondo outfit thought they had secured a final berth only to be kicked out after they were found guilty of fielding players from Palos and Vihiga Queens according to Football Kenya Federation-Nyando Sub-Branch chairman, Joshua Ogonji.

With Bondo Ladies out, the final presented Plateau Queens with a second chance to make amends for their mistakes, when they beat Siaya Ladies 3-0 to secure the girls' title.

Monica Molly, Valentine Awuor and Faith Emuyaka scored for Plateau Queens to secure a place in the regional stage.

Manyatta won the boys' trophy with a 2-1 triumph to book the regional berth next weekend.

The Nyanza regional games will take place next Saturday at Gusii Stadium in Kisii.

Plateau Queens is coached by George Omondi with Joshua Ogonji as the team mentor.
