Speaking in an interview with the match broadcaster RTM after the game, PKNP head coach Abu Bakar Fadzim remarked that his men were able to take advantage of the player absence faced by the hosts. Selangor's Syahmi Safari are away with Malaysia U-23 in preparation for the men's football event of the 2018 Asian Games, while Evan Dimas Darmono and Ilham Udin Armaiyn have joined the Indonesia U-23.
"My team was able to absorb the pressure and keep their focus as it wasn't easy to play in the first game away from home. Several Selangor players are away on national team duty, and we managed to take advantage of their absence.
"Praise Allah, we won tonight but more importantly, we did not concede any goals," remarked the 2017 head coach of the year award winner.
He also revealed that Chadian striker Karl Max Dany, who had been sidelined due to an injury right after signing for the club in the mid-season transfer window, may recover in time for their following match, against Sabah.
"I'm happy with the performance, commitment and desire shown tonight so it is likely that I will retain the same line-up for our match, especially when the players have been doing well.
"Karl Max Dany may be fit for the match against Sabah, and I may take him along for the game, just to motivate him," added Abu Bakar.
The goals in the match were scored by Hafiz Ramdan (23'), Fandi Ahmad (32') and Ritus Krjauklis (62').
