Ovella Ochieng among foreign-based players called up to Emerging Stars Afcon squad

Swedish based Ovella Ochieng is among the five foreign-based players who have been called up to the Emerging Stars U-23 squad set to hit camp next week ahead of the U23 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Mauritius.

Ochieng who plies his trade with Vasalund in Sweden is expected to link up with the rest of the 18-man squad set to hit camp next week ahead of the first round of qualifiers.

England based duo of Jonah Ayunga and Henry Ochieng also got the cal up as well as Georgia based Alwyn Tera and Joseph Okumu (USA).

Earlier on Sunday, a provisional squad of 57 players, who had undergone a two-day assessment for possible inclusion into the team, was trimmed to an 18-man final squad that is set to hit camp on Friday, November 9, 2018.

Kenya will start off her campaign at home on November 14, 2018, before jetting out to Mauritius for the reverse four days later. The winner of the tie on aggregate will proceed to the second round, with a third round also in line. The final tourney, set to be played in November 2019, in Egypt, will act as a qualifier to the 2020 Olympics.
