Okumbi adds five more players to Harambee Stars squad

AFC Leopards striker Paul Kiongera will not be fit to face Malawi on April 18.

Coach Stanley Okumbi has confirmed that Kiongera is out injured and will not be available for selection when Kenya takes on Malawi on April 18. Also left out of the team is Ulinzi Stars defender Omar Mbongi and Tusker winger Noah Wafula.

"AFC Leopards Paul Kiongera is out injured, Ulinzi Stars Omar Bongi has been sent for further military studies and is also unavailable for the match while Tusker FC’s Noah Wafula has been given time off to condole with his family following the recent passing of his son,' revealed a statement from FKF obtained by Goal.

Okumbi has also moved to replace five Gor Mahia players, who were dropped on Monday, after they failed to report to training camp in Machakos due to club engagements. The new faces include AFC Leopards goalkeeper Ian Otieno, Brian Birgen (Ulinzi FC), Victor Majid (Chemilil FC), Zeka Wakoli (GFE 105 FC), Victor Ogedo (Nzoia FC), Shami Mwinyi (Thika United) and James Saruni (Ulinzi FC).

Malawi are expected in the country on April 16 (Sunday) for the friendly set for Machakos Stadium.
