Muhammad Shaban linked with Raja Casablanca after failed Orlando Pirates move

Uganda international Muhammad Shaban has reportedly stopped training with Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants Orlando Pirates.

The highly-rated forward, who is currently on the books of former Ugandan champions Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC, joined the Buccaneers on trial towards the end of July.

Shaban was hoping to impress his former Ugandan national team coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic, who is now in charge of the Sea Robbers.

However, recent reports have indicated that the 20-year-old striker failed to impress Micho and his technical team during his trial stint with the Houghton-based side.

Reports emanating from Uganda have revealed that Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca are interested in signing Shaban.

"Ugandan striker Shaban Muhammad is on the verge of completing a move to Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca from KCCA. However, a compromise has not been reached between the two teams as KCCA demands a higher transfer fee of 180,000 USD compared to the initial agreed 130,000 USD," Swift Sports Uganda reported on their website.

Shaban was hoping to follow in the footsteps of his countryman Yasser Mugerwa, who joined Bucs in 2015 from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

Mugerwa was released by the Soweto giants at the end of the 2015/16 season failing to make an immediate impact.

He had arrived at Bucs with his compatriot, Saidi Kyeyune for trials, but the latter failed to impress the then coach Eric Tinkler at the time.

"Swift Sports understands that the Shaban and Raja Casablanca have already agreed on personal terms after the player successfully underwent the medicals. The move comes a week after Shaban had an unsuccessful trial at Orlando Pirates in South Africa," the site reported.
