Matchday 24 preview: Aduana Stars offered top spot

Goal Ghana
The Fire Boys have been presented with the chance to assume the first position as leaders Wafa will be forced to take a rest in the local topflight

With leaders Wafa not in action, Aduana Stars could temporarily take up the top spot when the Ghana Premier League heads into matchday 24 this weekend.

The Academy Boys' scheduled home clash against Asante Kotoko has been postponed due to a medical report declaring players of the Porcupine Warriors medically unfit to play following their fatal accident last week.

Aduana, who tie Wafa on points but hold an inferior goal record, could take over the top spot with three points from their visit to Tarkwa to face Medeama. The match will be the only week 24 fixture on Saturday.

Elsewhere, third-placed Hearts of Oak are tipped to claim full points from their home encounter with new boys Tema Youth, who occupy the 12th position.

Bechem United are eyeing their 10th win of the season when they play away to newly-promoted Elmina Sharks, who stunned 2014-15 champions Ashanti Gold 2-1 on the last matchday.

Ebusua Dwarfs, eighth on the log, will hope to make up for last week's 2-0 fall at Aduana Stars when they host reigning champions Wa All Stars at the Cape Coast Stadium.

On the back of their giant-killing of leaders Wafa, Berekum Chelsea are looking for a second consecutive win when they play as guests to new boys Bolga All Stars, who sit bottom of the table. The Blues occupy the 10th position.

Having dropped to the relegation zone, Liberty Professionals must beat Ashgold at the Carl Reindorf Park to improve their chances of maintaining their topflight status at the end of the season.

Finally, seventh-placed Inter Allies will lock horns with Great Olympics at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra. The 'Dade' Boys sit second from bottom on the log.
