Mamelodi Sundowns are desperate for their first win in the Caf Champions League as they meet Horoya in Conakry on Tuesday

Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Hlompho Kekana has stated they cannot afford to lose their second Group C match in the Caf Champions League.

The Brazilians are away to Guinea’s Horoya in a match set for Tuesday, and the skipper says they are aware on the importance of a win.

Kekana led his teammates to a 1-1 draw against reigning champions Wydad Casablanca a week ago at home, a draw he says has left them behind in the group.

The 2016 African champions now sit third with a point in the group and will be hoping to bag their first win to keep their knockout qualification hopes alive.

Coach Pitso Mosimane’s men rescheduled their clash against Horoya as they  took on Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona where they would suffer a 3-1 defeat in an international friendly last Wednesday.

Following the permission from Caf to move the clash, the club were forced to fork out about R100 000 for logistical and rescheduling costs.

"Our mission in this away match is to get the points so that we're not too far behind in the group," Kekana was quoted as saying by SowetanLive.

"It will be important that we turn on the switch and put on a great performance after Barca. It still feels unreal that we played them but it's history now," he said.

"As a team we have enough experience to know that this game is a must win after the Wydad draw,” he continued.

Speaking about his ambitions after helping the Tshwane side lift their Premier Soccer League (PSL) crown, the Zebediela-born midfielder said he is eager to fight for their second star.

"It's one of the best feelings you can experience as a footballer and I would love to get it again," he concluded.

For the hosts, Horoya occupy the second spot with three points and the match will be staged at Stade du Septembre in Conakry at 18:00.
