Dollah Salleh was a proud man after his team executed the plan perfectly as Pahang became the first team to beat JDT in Larkin in 3 years.

Johor Darul Ta'zim found Pahang too hot to handle in the 2018 FA Cup quarterfinal as they crashed out of the competition on a 0-3 aggregate score as the latter progressed through to the next stage of the competition to face PKNP FC in the semi-final.

Having played out a scoreless draw in the first leg in Kuantan, Pahang quickly got into the act in Johor Bahru when Patrick Cruz found the back of the net within 10 minutes played. The Brazilian striker would go on to score two more in the second half to claim a gigantic upset win for the Elephants.

Pahang's head coach Dollah Salleh was left impressed by what he saw on the pitch and paid tributes to his players for playing to instructions. The experienced coach was quick to point out just where it went right for his team.

"Actually we planned on how to stop JDT tonight [Friday]. In training, even though we haven't always got the XI in training, we knew we had to shut down their 3-man midfield. And tonight it proved that we didn't allow Natxo, Hariss and Nazmi from playing their game."

"We stop their midfield from spraying passes to the two wingers. They are the ones that kill games. And I also told my players not to allow JDT's two wide men from coming inside. Just let them cross the ball all day long. Thankfully it all worked out," said Dollah in the post-match press conference.

Despite having several players who were doubtful, Dollah persisting with them in the starting line-up and was rewarded with a combative display throughout the entire 90 minutes. Players who were not at their best physically were able to produce performance that belies their conditions.

"Patrick wasn't 100% fit and I was surprised by his performance.Sumareh actually declared that he couldn't play because he was down with fever. Safuwan went back to Singapore last week to do treatment before coming back to us on Monday."

"Matthew played straight away without any training. I couldn't be happier with the commitment that was shown," added Dollah.

The result meant that Pahang has now knocked out JDT in four of the last six FA Cup season from 2013 to 2018. The only times that JDT have triumphed when the two have met in the competition was in 2013 while they did not meet each other in the 2016 season.
